1.4 carb

hi, iv just fitted a 1.4 carb engine into my nova from a mk2 astra,its got the pierburg 2e3 carb. the problem is it idles and revs freely when not in gear but when i put it into 1st it dies and starts to run ruff. it will go int reverse and go backwards fine,im thinking the coil, or the carb need tuning,ive fitted new plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads are almost new, also the gearbox was fine and worked on the old engine, realy confused now, any ideas would be great. thanks:thumb:

sound like u got block in carb i would get som carb cleaner and clean it out thay have filters in side the carb

look at the earths & also the timing.... and did you refill the gearbox properly?
