Interested in the weight difference between the different bonnets - anyone weighed them? cheers :thumb:

Weighings from AGMotorsport, I assume the f/g weighings are for the basic X strengthening design:


The fibreglass bonnets weigh just under 5 kg. The standard steel one is aprox 12kg.

The fibreglass tailgate is 5kg. The standard steel one is aprox 11 to 12 kg when stripped completely bare of all parts - wiper motor, locks, glass etc etc
We put omy f/g bonnet on the scales at Eurorallye and it was around 5kg also.

De-strengthening the standard bonnet is rubbish, mine is still mega heavy compared to the f/g item.

Bonnet pins are required but will also get rid of the latch/cable mechanism to free up more weight too?!

Nova bonnets are heavy tbh, even my mate's vectra bonnet is lighter lol

Wouldnt paint underneath - thats just silly talk.... But definately would need colour on the top, a carbon bonnet on my standard bus would look oddlol

Glad to hear that, also gives you excuse to buy more carbon for your bay ;)
Bay will look good with some carbon

Its a facelift Vectra C, I think its made of aluminium hence why its very light.

I got a bare steel tailgate down to 7KG, and it was still useable too

AHH right, i was thinking Vec B!
Still, nova bonnets arnt that heavy, fairly weak too, flaps about, and bend when you have the bonnet up too long with the stay lol
