View Full Version : drums vs discs
just wondering is it worth having rear discs on the rear beam or drums,as had a look on other peoples threads and alot are runing drums, plus heard they can be a pain in the a***,ive already got a rear disc beam on my let nova, just wondering if there worth having
cheers
No, by the time you have backed them off they dont do more than the drums, Yes discs are easier to service, but for the hassle of it, just adjust the drums/put new shoes/drums on.
Most people have discs for looks or 5stud.
Discs Pro's
Lighter (marginal)
Easier to service (but how often do rear brakes need servicing?)
Dont overheat (only on track that becomes a factor)
Disc Con's
Once backed off they offer no more performance than Drums (so pointless)
Impossible to bleed (oh hang on, thats just Nick lol)

When i started out on my rebuild journey years ago, discs seemed to be the "in" thing, so i converted my beam. Now, that i have wisened up and spent a small fortune on parts to complete it, i wish i hadnt bothered. Ah well, live and learn.
