After giving the turd a thorough clean out yesterday, I decided I may as well extend a small amount of effort into making it look a bit tidier.

The number plates have always been a bit tatty, so I've been thinking about replacing them. You all know the car:

I'll probably be changing to my GSi front bumper in time for Billing, but the quadlamps will be staying.

What plate to get? Standard plain plate with no symbols? Euro plate? Metal plate (legal one from dubmeister)?

Are they 100% legal the metal ones? If so go for one of them, I know they scene taxed but I love them

Pair of brand new, competely standard plates with no border, no logos, no slogans, no nothing.

Nice, simple, clean & tidy.

Anything with any kinda of flag on looks utter sh*t!

New std plates always looks so much better. Knackered plates make a car look tatty.

I may be being stupid here but why do people blank plates out? Is there a way of finding someones address from them?

I've heard stories of someone putting plates of a Cavalier off the net and getting clocked at well over a tonne.

The police turned up to find the Cavalier in pieces and it hadn't seen the road for some time so let them off. Not sure how true that is
but I wouldn't like to have to prove it wasn't me when the Police turned up to my car in one piece

As above, its much easier for a car thief/criminal/naughty boy to browse certain car websites to look for reg numbers to clone vehicles rather than keep thier eyes out while driving about looking for a similar reg number!

Mainly used for petrol drive offs and other illegally stuff

People have also worried that if they crash on a track day, their insurer might see the pics and know they where driving on track when they arnt covered.

Hmm. Reckon you have the winner there, tbh I don't go for the whole euro scene thing so the pressed plates probably wouldn't suit. And I CBA to keep explaining to policemen that yes they are legal officer lol

Plain and simple it shall be.

I'd like some pressed plates for shows for mine but tbh I also prefer plain numberplates, just a shame I cannot get the older style lettering instead of the new style.
