Right im stuck and need a little help.
the plug coming off the engine loom which connects into the car loom 9 pin plug.
The large black which is switched igniton live goes to black and purple wire at the wiper motor?
what ive found when connecting the Large black wire to the battery just to see if it will start, im not getting a spark.
But if i remove the black from the battery i get a spark. so that means is i tap the black wire on the battery + terminal i get sparks.
so i would like to know what this means? my coil funked? or the ecu? or am i just not wiring it to the right place?

Ive got it but im unsure of where to get the cranking live from, and also i get no spark if its connected directly to the battery.
So what does it do when its connected to an ign live?
Dos it still give the same results?
exactly the same it will only spark if i remove it from the Supply, so if i was to tap it over and over i will get a spark but i know thats wrong

gearbox earth strap fitted ?
yes baxter.
I also used the corsa starter loom.
the engine turns over and fuel is getting in im just not getting a spark :(

have you connected the millions of earths ? lol
Right i have the earths that bolt to the alternator bracket to the battery terminal for the second would that cause it?
also i made a top adjuster for the alternator im not going to need an earth strap for that aswell am i?

That should be fine mate aslong as its earthed.
well its bolted to the engine and the engine is earthed

what?? oh lol the black and purple wire at the wiper motor i conected it to as i remember someone saying that was an ignition switched live. its been removed from there now though

When I put in my C16 it wouldnt start. I found a break in the black wire from where an alarm was cut out. It still wouldnt fire after that was sorted.
I flashed the fault codes off, then she fired up when next cranking. Odd.
Do you have an EML when ign is switched on?
right on the 9 pin plug that connects to the car loom i have in numbered order same as the plug
1)red + blue
2)blue
3)black
4)red
5)brown + white
6)brown + blue
7)blue + red
8)green
9)brown + yellow

sure thats not a x16 loom
you should only have 1 red/blue on a c16
as heres the c16 loom plug

well i got it all out of a corsa Gsi so im guessing its the c16 loom

tbh id go back to the corsa and rip the steering coloum off and have a look,
does it have an air flow meter ?

Like baxters said there all thats needed to make it run so id be inclined to recheck the corsas coloum for and immobiliser.

what year gsi is it ?
does it have an AFM ?
does it have an EGR ?
have you used your 1L ignition wire to feed the loom ? lol
on the corsas barrel it has this

but that was wired into an aftermarket alarm.

look on the lock its self, its not on the plastic bit, but around the key lock
what year gsi is it ?

have you used your 1L ignition wire to feed the loom ? lol
It is an L reg Gsi
it has an AFM
and its got the powerbox with the x16 inlet with an EGR blank on it.
Im not sure where the 1L ignition wire is ?? ive not connected anything to it.
I tryed the Black wire in all for of the cables at the back of the barrel Red, Black, Black and Black + red and it didnt work in any of them
theres nothing around the key lock and its got the same type of key as my nova

so you have just 'poked' wires in places?
sounds like a blown ecu
what happens when you put the red and black on the + on the battery ?
whats the fuel pump doing ?
red and black from where?
could i have blown the ecu whilst putting the black wire on the + of the battery?
cause it ran in the corsa
The wires that need connecting are all crimped up apart from all the dash wires

the red live and the ignition live, stright onto the + of the battery
it turns over but there is no spark
but if i remove the black it sparks, then put it back on nothing remove spark,

and whats the fuel pump doing whilst cranking ?
its pumping as the rail builds pressure and it also spits fuel out of the hole where the spark plug came from

theres an earth near the coil pack for the coil pack, that on lol
earth at the coil pack? dont tell me this now i never removed one ?
What pulleys are you using the multirib stuff?
Im thinking crank/cam sensor?

theres about 15 earths lol
if its pumping fuel the crank sensor is ok :)
im using the multi v set up it came with

the only earths i removed where on the alternator bracket
arhh crap there was an earth bolted to the firewall on the corsa i havent connected :( i feel so dumb lol hopefully will cure it tomorrow.
honestly though on the engine loom there was only 3 earths that i remember well 3 loop conectors
Also this 1L igniton wire everyone goes on about where is it? what does it do? and how do i replace it lol
and another question. can anyone tell me what colour wires go to the AFM? in number order please as the loom looks abit chopped up and i just have the afm plug and wires
1l coil wire shouldnt bother you.
Cant really help, too tired but baxter it will have the VSS even as a C16?.
Where is there a earth on the blukhead? I cant remember one lol
im confused, if youve got fuel and spark with the black wire disconnected then **** it surely lol?
no i dont have a spark. but i can make it spark by tapping it on the battery.
the earth on the bulkhead was put there by the previous owners

Right it ran :) was one earth removed lol.
Right so this black switched live where should i connect it to?
Also it has a powerbox on it and when it idles it idles fine but as soon as you rev it, it dog's out any ideas what this could be

Also if anyone has a corsa b haynes manuel with the gsi in it i would appricate the colours of the afm :)
AFM
Black (id presume IGN live)
Green/White (To ECU)
Brown (Earth id presume again)

Nah there are 3 wires going into the afm.
I think who i bought the car off has extended the wiring because of the power box.
Just need to know what colours go into where on the plug aswell as i havent got a clue. And the colours on the plug dont match the colours in the wiring :(.

can you see in the haynes wiring diagram what wire goes to what number on the plug?
Nope, no idea where they go in to the AFM.
Il see what i can find.

he has a x16xe in his loon, there near on the same engine
No good bud, X16XE dont have AFM, so no use.
If it was the case id have two outside to check.
Cant find the wiring anywhere, only thing i can suggest is to look on the AFM and the plug and see if you can see a A, B and C for the pins. If so,
Black is C
Brown is B
Green/white is A
I think im going to have to pop up my missus and steal the loom off that just to get mine going.
Well i have 3 looms now i can make a good one out of that.
Just got brakes to do and the exhaust welded. Hopefully the standard nova system will be ok.
