Update - The sandblasting is going ahead on Saturday woop woop :)

And to answer scott.parker's question about anti rust I will apply built hamber hydrate 80 to all bare steel then the whole underside and inner arches will be painted with epoxy resin chassis paint, then use seam sealer on all panel joints and seals then under-seal the whole thing should do the job like lol

Your under-sealing? I'd seriously recommend stone chip and then painting it, underseal is bad for trapping water, plus it looks naff lol

I love the finish sand blasting leaves and it's an ideal base for applying finishes.

Stone chip /underseal is same thing aint it? I got some 3M stuff I'll get a pic up and see if it will be ok ?

Tbh i'd go with some flexible stone chip that you could then paint over, the problems with schutz and underseal is that it never really dries and can't be painted over, plus its notoriously bad for trapping water.

If your going this far with stripping all the underside, if it were me i'd wanna colour code it while i'm there. Up to you though.

well I was going to colour code the inner arches after but not the underside.
Cant remember if you can paint over this stuff??

P.S I had a call from the blasters this morning saying his compressor was leaking oil and that we would probley be looking at during the week :( I was not happy.

IIRC schutz and underseal are both oil based so can't be painted over, stonechip does dry and can be painted over so maybe a few coats in the wheelarches and then paint. Project looks good though, have you got any deadlines for it to be done by?

Right thanks for that I'll sell these and buy some stone chip lol what brand do you recommend??
I haven't got an exact deadline date but would like it done before August.

You need a product by 3M called Body Gard. It is a rubberised finish like the OE finish and is over paintable. Can't find it on Fleabay but most good motorfactors should sell it

Hi all it feels like a long time since I have been on here, I still have this project and its basically the same as it is in the last pic lol
I have been buying things still for it though lol and am really itching to crack on again. I am busy re-spraying a transporter / camper and also a fully sandblasted and red oxide'd mgb gt fixed roof is being restored at our work, but still I am going to get the sandblasting to underside, engine bay and inside floor pan then whole thing into some special primer ;) so some proper updates to follow soon.

Hi all I have had the nova underside, engine bay and inside floor pan sandblasted and then red oxide'd to keep rust from forming while I carry out more work. will get the pictures when I'm back at work. so next on the list is sorting shell out for primer's ie area's that have been welded. My lass has given me Saturdays where I'm aloud to work on nova woop woop so should be getting cracking in next few weeks (it's about time like lol).
