Haha, yeh well im not the biggest fan of japcrap tbh. Im not really into drifting, it just goes against everything iv ever learnt about racing!! However il say they do have a few cars that day and a few nice engine bays!!

Ernie
16-05-10, 06:38 AM
i still dont get drifting.why go slower round a race track sideways ?
I thought the idear of a race track was to go as fast as possible not slam the hand brake on then do a burn out for a corner and waste tyres.Just what i think really but each to there own.

I wouldnt mind going to Japfest, but had to work.

I saw convoys of stuff going northbound on the M5 at 7:30 when I went to work, loads of stuff about in the afternoon going southbound. Noisey as hell some of the Jap boys. Civics chasing down Scoobs on the motorway, class!

Is the ground out section for balancing?

Count Vaux Alot

Is the ground out section for balancing?
If you mean the ground out section on the compressor wheel and nut then yes its for balancing.

I'm the younger one lol

They were designed as an anti stall measure on large truck turbo, basically when the turbo is spinning at very high speed the air being drawn in at the compressor end can cavitate causing an area of 'dead air' in front of the compressor wheel there for stalling the turbo.
The drilling's are designed to take the air thats being spun back off the compressor wheel away from the turbo (during cavitation) back in to the compressor cover through a slit halfway down the comp wheel - you can see the slit in the pic above. Whether that works as well in practice as it does in theory im not sure...

hope that makes sense

Think so, basically it shifts the air intake into the blades over a slightly larger area and takes a feed in from behind where the vacuum is?
