as you can tell the sunroof is much higher than the roof line and im unsure which is at fault, the sunroof or the roof has sunk? the roof doesnt look dented and is fairly straight so im hoping its the sunroof has somehow been raised too high for some reason.

i know if i dont open the sunroof all the way up it will be level with the roof line but as most of you will know it goes up then comes down again and locks into position.

any oppinions are appreciated.:thumb:

if i wind it down then the handle wont be in-line and it wont lock down how it does when the handles rotated all the way round. which then it might not seal.

My mates astra gte is like that, have you had the sunroof removed from the car at any point? His had been and has never lined up since.

does the sunroof winder fit on a splined bit? You could take it off and move it round a spline to compensate

allowing you to wind it round further ^

bazil- ive never had the sunroof out since ive owned it. 4years.

rich- yeh it is splined but as ive said, when the sunroof is being wound up from being in the slide position, not the tilt, once it is closed it starts to go up to tilt but then comes back down and locks into position. so it may not seal correctly.

ill have to have play with it tomorrow, maybe stand on the glass to flatten out the curve? lol

It will help the sunroof slip into the hole easier and let it sit flat. Alternativley rip the whole headlining out and fit a new one. Know what i'd try!

Sunroof is a large item into a small hole in order to seal it. I think the seal will be dry and its stopping it from sealing. It used to happen on the old Rover 200s etc.

Think about how easy something slips in a hole when it is lubricated??

Wind it down, under screw the handle and move it back. Its just on a geared wheel.
