Hey up all,

Basically, after fitting various cheap induction kits to cars, they do nothing, just fitted a BMC enclosed one to afriends mgzr, omg is it loud, its like its on boddieslol

Whats the best for the c20xe nova?

Cost not really important, sound is:thumb:

BTW, its on a power cap:d

I might be wrong, but I think all comes down to engine bay cosmetics & I would much rather see a factory airbox in my bay if I had an XE.

Anyhow, cone filter wise. I would have an Apexi, proven to be pretty good & look smart too. I think the BMC ones are good, but the Pipercross Vipers never really added bhp as such, they look awkward IMO too.

Apexi good then bud?

Im going to make a stainless bracket for it, the thought of it flopping about doesnt seem good lol

Apexi are very good, I have one on my ST205.

[edit] Came with a mounting bracket too, but I don't know if they made a "kit" for the C20XE in any application. Certainly wouldn't be suitable for a Nova application even if they did I guess.

I want an Apexi on my c16XE, but they dont make a filter neck wide enough for the engines AFM. I dont want an adaptor, but I would say the Xe has a slimmer AFM mouth than the monstrous smallblock..!

Unless an induction kit is given to me or really cheap I never bother with them - drilled airbox is the best all round to eliminate heat soak...

If you just want it to sound chavvy, then just buy a £20 one off ebay

MattBrown

Nah, chavvy egay ones look cack, Yeah, I want it to sound loud lol

Im 18 remember, if its loud, its fast lol

That loud sound you want is a tresonance of sorts, so a drilled airbox or one of them cones with a built in 'flower pot' is most likely what you crave.

so are you going to angle grind the backbox off or wait till it rusts off? lol

Nah, chavvy egay ones look cack,

That Apexi will look like a sore, throbbing (0ck on the end of the induction pipework.. they all do, K&N etc.

£15 Halfords special universal filter on my XE. The enclosed cone filter that was on it when I got it was really loud and lives on the MR2 now as couldn't cope with it daily.

Got a pic lee?

Seems theres no need to spend a fortune.

Why the **** would my exhaust rust off? Have I missed something?

Seeing as its got a full 2.5inch stainless system, it will be doing well to fall offlol

Induction mods?

I've always looked at fancy induction kits and power caps as >£200 that could be put towards throttle bodies, that's why I never bothered with then.

if your banned, all your insurance policies are null and void mate, so your not insured.

so so wrong sloth

car is still insured just not for the disqualified driver so any named are still fine but main user will need changing, and car still covered for theft

a disqualiffied driver can still have a policy

you wont be covered to drive the vehicle as you have no licence but the car will still be covered for theft

have you told them your banned? most insurers cancel the policy as soon as you do, or whack a stack onto your policy...

wrong again sloth cant whack anything on till renewal as the policy is set up on the details at the time of the policy being taken (just like getting points for speeding dont affect till renewal) so will just exclude the vehicle being driven till the renewal date so most people cancel but like matt your perfectly within your rights to keep the policy running till renewal to get the ncd.

Sloth
15-05-10, 09:46 PM
so why did that happen to me?

blue_peg_16v
15-05-10, 09:59 PM
because you didnt know your rights and stand your ground

obviously insurers will try to offload you

but a policy is quoted at the time of acceptance and thats the price for the year anything that happens after affects the renewal not the existing policy

i worked in the industry for 8 years with 3 companys and matt is perfectly fine mate

Jack

Rich, are you certain on that? Its a change in circumstances and every insurance policy I've ever had says in the small print that changes in circumstances could result in a premium change.

Small fry stuff like speeding etc, sure most companies don't bother til renewal time, but bigger stuff like a ban is important and is a big change. As said, either the primary driver could change, or the use of the vehicle (if it goes from fully comp to fire & theft only, you could blag a refund).

What would stop junior getting insured on daddys name on a Ferrari F40, then the next day ringing up the insurance company and saying "daddy's been banned, I'm now the main driver". You telling me they wouldn't change the premium?

blue_peg_16v
16-05-10, 12:34 PM
in that way jack ye they would as the main user is changing but in matts case with it just being him as the driver they would just remove cover for driving, so the car is still covered for theft or accidental damage on a comp policy so you can still accrue ncd
