2 things you can do.

Lift off the lid & cut open the thin plastic cover with a sharp blade, find the rotary resistor thing with the nut in the middle. As you push open the flap in the AFM, you'll see the arm move around a track (elec contact). It stops short of the end of the track, undo the nut & re-set it so it goes a bit further on the track at wide open flap.

2ndly You can lower the spring tension on the flap itself. Do not lower it by much.

Does it look like it has a black box on top of the alloy body? Stevie Pitcher at track 'n' road tuned my 20SEH by adjusting that. Its a bit of a dark art though and would probably only make a slight difference in conjunction with other mods. Dont quote me on that though, could be wrong......

As for the AFM. Start by removing the top cover, then cut into the plastic that is on the top of the base unit, find the arm that moves along the track, loosen the centre nut & move the arm so it reaches the end of the track when the AFM gate is wide open. From std the arm dosent get to the end of the track.

The AFM has the polished alloy cover which needs removing. The 8v Cav AFM's are a plastic top anyway. No idea if they are same.

I forget how I did the spring tension on the flap, but somehow I got inside it all & found the spring stop & some sort of cogged mechanisim for holding it. I held it inplace, slackened the nut then allowed a tiny bit of tenion off then, nipped it back up.

Some years ago now. 10 infact. Onto drilling the airbox next & putting a 2.4 TB on it........
