Right, I wanna know what is making that noise when my engine is revving!

Brief description of the noise: Sounds Like and Old Fiesta/Escort :wink: !

Basically I can hear some wort of knocking/tapping noise mainly when engine is revved. It sometimes happens when its idle but it more quiet.

Im thinking it the tappets.

Need a second opinion!

i would agree with ya, mine sounded like that. i would put money on it being your hydraulic lifters. put a screwdriver on your cam housing and your ear to the handle, you should be able to hear them making a noise

Sounds like hydralic valve lifter sticking. the things that go up and down with your cam followers. If they are sticking or too worn then they dont follow as well and the follower taps on them.

usually does it if you are low on oil or when the engine is warming up until the lifters have not got oil and at the right viscosity to go through them. That or the lifters are worn.

To fix you can use magnetex oil stuff, put oil in it (if low), take your cam box off take the lifters out and give them a strip and clean or get new followers and lifters.

i would recommend buying new ones to replace them as i didnt bother just tried using magnetec and it fully buggered my cam - will put pics up later

You just need your lifters adjusting. Very simple, check your haynes manual on how to do it....

they use hydraulic lifters that CANT be adjusted,they adjust automatically,thats the whole idea of them.
Whip them out,strip them down clean and rebuild them,put it all back together and it should be quite again.
when you take them out you will prob find one or more will be very stiff or even siezed,you should be a ble to press them in by hand and only encounter the srings resistance,no friction,when you let go they should fully extend again with no delay.
