What makes you love your car??

Lets start of a list.

Mine is the body styling. Flaired arches and squared back.

the fact that every journey is a mystery of if you'll get to your final destination or not! (think it's called charecter lol )
easy to fix when things go wrong
the fact it's a 12 year old car that still 'has it' in most stakes

they have always been quality cars, i can remember when they used to be so cool at all the old school cruises in guildford and the good thing is, they still are, there are always different styling ideas people do which i think is cool. i love mine, dunno y really, i just have a thing for novas.

Novas are cheap to run and modify. If I had loads of cash I probably wouldn't think of modding another nova, I'd go for something newer with a bigger engine to begin with. But as I have just quit my job, I dont think I'll be doing any modding for a while!! :(

Should also say, best looking little hatchback in the price range.

economical,

since bloody when has a GTE, GSi, SRi and SR been economical

maybe a 1.2 or 1.0 but not those above.

someone metioned arches i think that was always a good point on novas classic design detail made by audi perfected by vauxhall

wisewood
29-04-03, 04:24 PM
actually those arches have been used for many years, not just by those two.

jatinder
29-04-03, 05:02 PM

ECONOMICAL!!? you should try driving a 2.0L Nova, then you'll know the price of petrol!!

Anyway i still LOVE my baby(s) :D - especially my red baby (ONEPHATNOVA2.0) - loads of charactor, bright, fast, loud, ...

its far from perfect, but its almost my dream car :P

jatinder
29-04-03, 05:06 PM
wot is a 2.0l like on petrol how many miles to a tank?

jkhilton
29-04-03, 05:19 PM
My GSI was very economical, it used to get me from Manchester to MK and back again on around a full tank.

My MR2 needed filling up before I even got to MK, it used to cost around ?80 or ?90 to drive from Manc to MK and back again, but that was cos I was driving at 120 -130 all the way!!! (Hmm now I see why the engine blew up!!!! )

wisewood
29-04-03, 07:37 PM
you dont have to tell me about that > thats why i didnt care how much people stared, pointed or laughed at mates saab i was in at MK, coz its fookin quick compared to my 1200cc clio. :D

Tilly
29-04-03, 07:39 PM

wisewood
29-04-03, 07:41 PM
yupp i think so.

second quickest car i ever drove, fastest was a modified cavalier, F reg i think it was > was like lightening. Would put the saab to shame everytime up to 100mph.

But thats another topic...

we all love nova's coz they are ace, its simple as that

novas are very very economical on fuel...

compare it to a bigger saloon car or something and you will see the difference.

Costs me ?40+ to fill my tank- used to be ?20 in the nova.

MPG was far far better in the nova (thats the impression i get anyway- my economy gauge scares me!)

I like the arches- exactly like audi quattro and lancia evo arches....rally slag pedigree

Nova-Boy
29-04-03, 08:26 PM
That might have a little bit to do with the size of a BMW tank but i agree Novas are not that bad on petrol. At the min I am getting about 100mile from ?10 ie. 10p a mile.

wisewood
30-04-03, 09:43 AM
thing is though most smaller engined cars give you about 10p per mile on fuel its not just the nova.

insurance...

Nova-Boy
30-04-03, 10:24 AM
I find the insurance groups aren't that good. Older cars seem to be quite high cos the group stays with the car from new so new cars that are mostly 16V injection new have the same groups.

Example. My 1.2 is a group 4 and a 106 quicksilver and 1.4 saxo is a group 4

1.4SR Group 6 (or 7 :? ) Saxo VTR group 6

the arches, the whole look of the cars, the amount of things that can be done with em, and the fact that u can makem realy fast, and the look on peoples faces when u out pace em, wolf in sheeps clothin an all that...

the fact you can wack virtually any engine in them you want, and the cheap insurance & especially the fuel economy (for me anyway 140miles to 10 quid now!!!!!)

I like how i can wear my reebok classics, tuck my trackies into my white socks, and wear my burbery hat inside it. And the car just complements my stylish look.

And it's good for racing people off the lights. Cozzies, Imprezas. Had them all.

lol!

Its just summut about the car in general - has a character of its own!

Coming shome tonight in the wifes Ibiza and saw a modded red GSi in the distance - looked well smart!

Came level with it (no NL sticker though  ) and couldnt stop staring at it.

The driver must have thought I was a right freako!

Find myself saying "ooh theres a nova!" even on my own!

Keep trying to spot ones with mint arches and wondering how much the owner wants for it!

Love em!
:D

Nova-Boy
02-05-03, 10:32 AM
LOL at Ade. I do the same. Look for ones with mint arches and had no sill welded or underseal as i drive past!! Sad or what! :?

you have all basically explained why we love our Novas (except Marty, LOL!) i love everything about Novas, the fsct that people are starting to hate them and are making it a known fact that they hate them makes me love them even more!

Novas may be old hat, and modded to death, but i bet they will outlast any other car of our scene!

all cars go through a popularity period, first they are in, then out, golf gti, pug 206, nova, saxo, corsa, etc, all hot hatches, but the nova will last for another 13 yrs!
