does any one have any tips on removing a redtop from an astra belmont?
do i drop the sub frame off or take it out th etop?

is there a how to guide? havent found one yet.

is there a specific order for removal?

just put a crane on it, and try andpull it, and undo any bolt which is stopping you :)

more in depth method would be to undo every water pipe, all electric plugs, and other things holding it to the car, like engine mounts, and then pull it out the top.

sorry maybe i should add i am removing the gearbox too and would like to keep the two connected. i didnt tink that it would come out the top with the gear box attached?

If you dont like the shell they will, just cut everything, more than you need etc, all hoses etc, smash everything out of the way if its going to the scrappers, just be careful with the loom etc.

Or, just grab a haynes, and look for everything, and do it properly lol

lol. yer well i would usually just rip it out but as i have actually paid for this engine i think i mght take a bit of care over it! lol.

just spoke to a mate of min who used to be a vauxhall mech and he is goin to hopefully get tim to do it for a pint!

If you just want to know if the engine and box will come out the top in one piece, yes it will :)

take it out downwards. they stick them in from underneath in the factory... undo the suspension and everything, then lower away...

Lift it straight out the top, there is loads of room.

Take all the water pipes off,
Fuel lines off,
Wiring loom off,
Shafts out,

Lift out.
