ive gone out and got myself an angle grider whats bits of the arches do you grinde of and how much do youhave to do anythin else.
as any1 got picturec of where to grind etc
thanks
shane.
wot wheels you got?
basically you grind the lip thats catching the wheel wall.
Its a bit of metal about 10mm deep that curves under and along the arch.
Depending on how much rubbing youve got, you basically need to jack uop car, support on axle stands, chock front wheels, remove rear wheels and then clean all the ah1te away from the arch. Dirt debris etc.
Then using the grinder properly (read instructions), and with goggles and gloves on (coz of hot metal sparks) take the lip back. usually you grind from the corner of the bumper (dont catch the bumper or remove it 1st) to where the arch starts to curve down.
Dont go mad though coz theres an inner skin joined to the outer skin held in place with spot welds. You dont wanna grind them away. you can usually take about 6mm off safely
Smooth down using a sander (watch out for sharp shards) so you dont shred yer wheels, then refit tyres and assess if more needs removing.
Adjust as necessary. Go no further back that about 4 mm and dont just cut it away - actually grind it gradually. Dont take off moer than you need either.
Once done, take for a spin to assess. Adjust as necessary. Once done, seal bare metal with hammerite - allow to fully dry before driving.
If you still find it rubs badly you could try different tyres (ones with straight walls rather than curved ones) or low profile tyres.
