View Full Version : What solid engine mounts do YOU use?
So far I've came across a few places that sell these mounts.
Option 1: eBay - £89 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nova-Competition-Uprated-Engine-Mounts-Set-BRAND-NEW-/290431600225?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item439f128661)
Option 2: Compbrake - £130 (http://compbrake.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=396)
Option 3: Pro-tec - £120 (http://www.pro-tecmotorsport.com/partsDetails.cfm?id=114)
Option 4: Harry Hockly - £228 (http://www.hh-ms.com/database/index.php?SelCategoryID=5&SelModelID=14&SelSubCategoryID=17)
Option 5: MED - price not on website (http://www.motorsportengineering.co.uk/engine%20mounts.htm)
Do people have any experience with the ones above or if they purchased theirs from somewhere else please post a link.
I've also read that some don't fit properly, is this the case with all solid top mounts or just some of them?
Any other info on this would be great.
Cheers :thumb:
mine are pro tec but realllllllly old and not alloy but steel, never had any probs running my 1600.

i have option 1 ; think theyre very good - feels very 'together' and isnt too tough.. or costly.
bazil, were they straight forward to fit?

Did you have any problems fitting the rear gearbox mount?
I was going through Adam's WIP yesterday and he had a few problems fitting them.
The ones he used look like ebay ones.
no mate they bolted up no probs.
One more question do Corsas and Novas use same mounts?
I found this pic in Dave-B's progress thread on mig and they look different to Nova ones :wtf:

I didnt no, everything went on really easily - i was a little surprised adam needed to elongate the hole - but its worth mentioning i fitted small block engine and gearbox; ad went for big block eng. & box.
I use Protec mounts.
Rear mounts can be a pain, some of them have recessed bolt holes which are too narrow to use the original bolts with a socket, therefore you either have to grind down a socket so it'll fit, or go and find some Hex or star drive bolts, which isn't easy because they're not metric pitch threads.

option. Fit 1 at a time over a month or so.
I've got the comp-brake ones on mine. Haven't fitted the rear gearbox one yet though..

mine look like the compbrake ones, i havent driven the car with them in but compared to the standard mounts the engine doesnt budge at all under throttle.
drivers side was a bit fiddly but all bolted up fairly easily :)
They do still move, just not very far!
Thanks for the replies.
I wonder if anyone makes these mounts with stiffer rubbers like poly type of stuff.
im guessing they dont as would put chassis under alot of strain with no movement whatsoever?
I might be wrong though lol
Got a price of MED, they charge £99 plus VAT & postage.
I think I'm going to go for the eBay ones.

I have the ebay type, but in blue. The drivers mount is abit different from the one in the link though.
Ive got the ebay ones.
Top notch imo.
Had to slot the rear mount, but you do on most!
I've got 2 TAS ones and 1 protec that baxter was going to scrap on the loon, so I dived under it in the wet and rescued it lol Could be interesting come fitting time :p
Think mine are like the compbrake ones, bought them from ebay a few years back for around the £100 mark iirc.
Never had a problem in terms of using them, they hold the V6 fine as well. As for fitting... ask Lee lol
