Will i get the results i need?

Bought the monaro at the end of december with 11k on it, its now covered a grand total of 13,600. Since ive owned it ive not been too happy with 2nd gear synchro. Its been getting progressively worse over the miles i have done. Its been in twice to Picador for the same thing, each time 'its a result of the ripshifter, they're all like it', bollox. The last occasion they covered 0.4miles in testing these characteristics of the gearbox, its fine they said..hmmmm. So since that, ive renewed the gearbox oil with Royal Purple highly supa dupa stick it up your hoota wallet raping stuff and re-bled the hydrualic slave with ATE super blue. I even notified them of what i had done, which there were happy with (warranty reasons). So it never got better, just worse. Been over the corvette sites, Pontiac, Holden and UKMonaro forums and its a common problem. Even Clarkson noted weak 2nd synchro on the Vette when doing them salt flat runs.

The service dude was quite sympathetic as they have one in at the mo doing the exact same thing. That one is having a rebuild.

After lengthy convo with the sales rep, and the service bloke at Piccy's, my car ran out of warranty when i drove it off the forecourt, no networkq on it, but as i flagged it up previous i could have a case. They're saying i could either have to pay a small fee, or free or im gonna face a large argument with Vaux HQ over it all. So hows it gonna swing then?

You dont have a hope in hell mate. In fact you stand a better chance if you take the shifter casing off, drop a ball bearing in there and let it detonate. At least they wont be able to say theres nothing wrong.

By law you should get 3 months Warranty with the car Net Q or not. You notified them of a concern inside 3 months and it was not rectified. I think you have a good case with them. If its a common problem then it is a concern of how can they fix it? Has anyone said they've had theirs fixed an if so how?

Yeah it is a common problem, on the Pontiac site there is even a 'recall list' as there mostly is with cars, and the synchro is highlighted in there. I have a dude at the mo who is taking Vauxhall to court over the same thing as they wont take responsability over it. Basicly its box apart, early cases can be realigned worst case like mine is new parts time. Christ if they gave me the parts id do it me bloody self to save bother. Everytime ive been up there they've offered me a loan car, each time ive declined, thought, ill be nice i dont actually need it lol

Not gonna believe this, car was at Picador vauxhall today, they actually test drove it, 11miles and they couldnt get 2nd 3times. Vauxhall HQ are sending down there main techy bloke, for a drive and to decide if they're gonna whack in a new box or rebuild it.

Hey thats gotta be good, at least they didnt hand it back saying they couldnt get it to fault which usually happens in these cases as cars are stubborn buggers with intermittent faults lol

If you gave it to them for the problem in warrenty im sure they will sort it for nothing. Vauxhall will only payout if you keep on at them!

Will they be putting the same box with the same problems in again? Hardly much use if you'll only get another 13k out of it as well.........

Saloony

It will only have the same gearbox back in. Im hoping it gets a full rebuild myself rather than a box. Because its alignment issues with the internals that cause them to go like this. Vaux out source the rebuilds and they go to my Uncle whos a proper specialist and will do a spot on job.

hopefully you do get a rebuild matey!! not just a new box!!

Saloony

Id personally prefer the rebuild. But then if i have a new box, i drive them properly and my motors are looked after properly so the common problem would take forever to arise.

A new twist to it all. The main Techy bloke is extremely busy and unable to get down to view my car. So, (listen to this) given its such low mileage and that its out of manufactures warranty there willing to go 50/50 on what will be a £1200+vat job, the totally forgot that they were made aware of the fault twice shortly after i bought the car. So you can imagine what i said to that. Im now waiting for the main sales guv up there to contact me monday as now hes going to be involved. Deep joy.
