I have a vauxhall nova on 14" alloys with 195/65 tyres/ when i take a full car load the rear left wheel scrapes on something. but only the left not the right :S
Any ideas why this might be ? do you reckon its due to normal wear and tear on the spring?

What alloys have you?

Have you lowered it?

Are the wheel bearings okay?

The tyre is probably catching on the rear arch.

Vauxhall build quality :thumb: if often happens on Novas

One side will be due to vauxhall build quality, Which is worse than house builders.

Best thing to do is check out the tyre, see if there is any marks on it, and also check the archs, look for bits of missing underseal, or a shiney bit of paint/missing paint.

Corsa C's use a slighty diff offset, But theres not many that are 14inch etc.

Corsa B's are all the normal pre 2000 vauxhall FWD offset

my 2004 corsa sxi rims are et49, yet the rh arch needed a bit nipping off it....

Its most likely the inner edge rubbing. Remove the wheel & look for a polished mark through the underseal or any slicing on the tyre tread to indicate where the problem is.

My guess is when/if you lower the car, the suspension wont slop about so much & the rubbing will stop. Mk1's have a bigger arch lip & more likely to catch there. Also the tyres may be bigger than average, they arent all identical to the millimetre.

i have look at the tyre and cant find any obvious indications. but will keep looking. as you said prob due to the size tyres :L

ohh right :) all depends on the strength rating on the springs. do you reckon ?

ohh right :) all depends on the strength rating on the springs. do you reckon ?

tyre size, springs, state of the rear beam bushes, previous accident damage, spanish communist car worker who didn't get any, all are factors
