Yea it wil fit mate with either the 1.4/1.6 headgasket but the compression would be mega high and would thus eat headgaskets.
it would be fun!! but you could just use the 1.6 head and fit the 1.4 carb, manifold & dizzy, and cam carrier, then it will run on the carb setup & have 10:1cr

well the 1.4 head has been skimed ryt down to boost the comp ryt up and its a bigger valve head so is that going to be a bad thing if it is going to be tyo higher comp
for road use, it could be too high, which causes detonation & will knacker the pistons, but for competition use with twin 40's and a decent cam & expensive fuel, it would be pretty impressive

I would have said it would be even worse than a standard head tbh mate you would like mowgli said be better off using the 1.6 head with the 1.4inlet and carb and dissy setup then the compression stays normal and have decent power keeping the carb setup.
Is there any particular reason for using the 1.4 head and carb as if your worried about the wireing the 1.6 loom only needs 3 wires to run?

ui have bought a 1.6 gte but has no loom or ecu
ok. now you are getting into the point where we tell you to stop txt typing, because it really doesn't go too well with technical answers.
please explain the full spec of your existing engine.

ok it has a 1.4 big valve head high lift cam skimed as far as can be to still be safe and not blow and a single webber carb

i really wanted to stay carb so i can stick twin 40s on in the future if that makes any sense

Yea mate makes sense lol id go with the 1.6 head then and 40s people see a good 130bhp from them with a similar setup mate.

one more thing do you no how much i can skim the head on the 1.6 to bump the power up a little more

No idea mate depends on how much has been taken off if its been skimmed previous etc best off asking with an engine refurb place tbh.

ok so do you reckon the 1.4 would be any better with a set of bike carbs

The full 1.4 engine? if so yea will be a massive improvement once youve had it setup right should see you knocking on the door of 100bhp imo.

the spec of the engine is blydenstein head with the biggest valves that are poss there is about a mill inbetween them done by blydenstein and skimmed soo much so there has been a bit skimmed off where the plugs come out into the combustion chambers i think rebuild bottom end and put bike carbs on it thats wat i was goin to do as it is it keeps up with saxo vts and 106 gti's i could keep up with my dads race tuned ktm 660 with it takin the nova off the clock but i still want my engine back hate redtops lol
