what are they like for fitting to a saloon
and what do they sound like on a 1200 carbed

i like them because there cheap and retro and not all of them are particulally (sp) loud but ive never experianced or seen/heard one so im going by what ive read before

I had one on one of my old Gsi's when. First got it sounded good wasn't that loud only took it off cus it stuck out way past the bumper.

sweet cherry bomb i had one on my 1st nova almost 11 years ago :) not had one since then but flicking through free ads, ebay, car mags they do seem to be cheep as for fitting cant really remember back that far but they are really basic pipes!

seen a few, only one on a nova though think it was an sr....Imo it sounded good on tickover/underload but just sat reving it sounded a bit wet farty to me...id look for a second hand direct fit box.

Stevie, is it to get rid of the hideous sound of the standard saloon backbox? I have a saloon and had a standard backbox on there up until yesterday. I got fed up with people telling me my exhaust was blowing (even though it wasn't). So I put the eurosports backbox from my GTE on there for a temp fix. Ok its not long enough and it required a new hanger to be welded on. But I work in an exhaust place so it wasn't too difficult.

Anyways back to the point, I think you'd be better buying a hatch exhaust second hand and bodging it on there.

A rear box for a hatchback will fit a saloon ok, but bear in mind the sound will come up through the boot and feel louder inside than outside!

I had a cherry bomb on my old 1300, sounds good through sr twin down pipes!!

In my experience cherrybombs are the same as having no back box except more muffled. Can sound good sometimes though.

Even my ashley system basically has a cherrybomb as a middle box, and it hasn't been messed with.

I have a 10inch long one on my TD, and thats the only box and it aint that loud, if you get the right sized bore so no more than 2 inch for yours it will sound nice :D

My derv one is 2.5 inch bore and sounded **** when i offered it up to the old corsa

LMAO @ relay aton of coolness. I had one on my first Nova for a while. It'd been on about 15 others eforehand. It was like the initiation into the local Nova nation lol It passed that baton on...

I had one on my old Sr,theyre a ballache to fit,but if your handy with a welder you will have nay bother.At certain revs they sound loud but when your kicking its cunnt in theyre no louder than any other backbox,at high revs they sound their best.I'd have another but not on my valver lol
Also be prepared to get mucky looks off your neighbours from the moment you fit it as when you fire up in a morning it will wake folk up

Do what Baxter did then, lop the end pipe off your box and the same with an aftermarket backbox and swap em over, standard backbox with a sporty looking tip:thumb:

i will make it straight through maybe keep the centre section and buy some smallish stainless pipe and make a home brew the white one on bags in retro cars i want one simmilar to that

But my 2l has a 2.5" system, with 1 box, thats it, im dreading starting it, If its too loud, then ive got to sell it to riggy lol

it will be really loud! i drove mine home as a 1.2 the exhaust made pretty much no noise at all, it made abit when you abused it, then when the 2 litre went in you had to talk loudly when it was running in the garage...as in talking to someone across the road
