View Full Version : Help!! Inspiration and practical storage advce needed
Hi lads, I'm after some inspiration or practicle ideas. I've found myself with 10+ Bonnets and bootlids and 20+ Doors I need to store as neat as possible either in my loft or outside my Garage. Whats the best way to store them without damaging them? I'm cool with the idea of building something for the purpose but I dont know what.
Suggestions and recomendations are warmly welcome.

scaffolding make some racks and line them up, bit of foam between each panel

copper pipe insulation, split it down one edge and put on top and bottom of panels
Hows about some form of racking to stack them all in, made from wood should be cheap enough and easy on the panels too:thumb:
Then sell it all after the doors as rollcage padding lol

keep them face to face they wont dent as easy
Ok, good thinking but... face to face means 2 at a time, say bonnets, the latches catch and scrape. Foam top and bottom protects them but what about the sides? Also, stacking them side by side, what if I need something from the middle?
Buy ~20 cars and fit the doors and bonnets to them :d

just throw them under a sheet in the back yard, not like there worth a lot of money lol
60+ panels? Where do you buy your sheets???
Craig, they are for sale but it takes a while to shift the lot.
Anyway, its Storage I'm after.
I'd just knock up an oversized toast rack out of wood - if you kepe them tight together it wouldn't take up that much more room than just stacking them up.

Hmm, where did you get that idea from i wonders :p
Now we're thinking. Have some repuatge Jack me lad.
hat'll cover doors, bonnets and hatches, Saloon Boot lits now.
Wings can be hung up but saloon boots weigh a bit so might need something different.....
Oi how did you miss my comment Dod
Well it was obvious I needed racking but I needed to know what sort. lol
Get over it and buy another Cav Spud. I'll sell you my 3.2 V6 one if you like...

Me now dribbles.............................
Any pics of that beasty?
i have been doing exercises like this at work atm,
the best way it to make racking which can take multipe types of items, so dont make them specific to wings or doors, make them wide enough to hold the widest thing you have,
and some people only stack so high, dont forget space you have higher up. so dont be afriad to double up height wise, where given.
and as for protection, i would bubble wrap, one layer. would be cheaper then foam IMO. foam is about £2.50 for a 60cm square at work, so not cheap IMO.
I'm ahead of you there, my mate is a carpet fitter so that'd work better for me. I was thinking about doubling it up and using up to around 12ft as thats the height of my gargae ceilings.
Spud, you ever see my Purple Vectra GT Rep? Thats her, 2.6 to go in and then to be followed ny a 3.2. It'll be good to go.
Go into PNG chat for a laugh.
