My engine is a complete miss-match!!!!

Ok, when I bought the car I was told that it was a 1.0 life model. It had allegdedly had a 1.4 lump fitted to it. I fitted a water pump and a head gasket for a 1.4 lump.

It definitely has the square port head which I assume is the 1.4 head and it is running a pierburg 2e3 carb, which I assume is jetted for a 1.4.

Thing is the code on the block is x16szr!!

I am pretty sure that this is a 1.6 block with a 10:1 compression ratio that was supposed to run single point injection with increased output(based on TV's old V files)

I assume that I would be best to get a 1.6 head and carb for her to get more power?

If the head gasket fitted the 1.6 could be stroked, in which case it would be the same block with different rods/crank/pistons, so if you have a 1.6 block, 1.4 rods/crank/pistons and 1.4 head then apart from the code, it's a 1.4

How do I check the rod/crank etc??? Surely the 1.6 had a 1mm wider bore?
