Forgive me for a question with a possible obvious answer, is the 1.0 exhaust centre section different to the 1.4 centre section?

No, it's only the front pipe that's different. The centre section, (from by the handbrake to the bacbox) is the same.

The section that connects to the backbox? Yes its the same.

Ofc the forward bit from the manifold to the centre section is different.

EDIT: Too slow!

Is it possible to fit the 1.0 downpipe and forward section to a 1.4 manifold?

No

Ok, the reason for the questions is my nova was originally a 1.0 and a 1.4 has been fitted. The exhaust seems to be very poorly fitting to each section.

Is the 1.6 system different?

No iirc the 1.4/6 front pipe and front centre sections are all the same. You should have, manifold, twin pipe front pipe to joint by gearbox. Centre section in 2 pieces, and a back box. Seeing as you have 4 joints, it can be a pain to line up correctly.

It's not the lining up, it seems to be lengths and diameters that are causing me grief! The back box seems to want to sit at the bend in the centre section, requiring quite a bit of force to get it to it's proper connection point, and even then it's too wide :(

Could it just be a case of cheap nasty OEM parts?
