Today i fitted the new 256 discs to mine till i get my hands on some bigger ones. After fitting them i drove back and forth and the caliper has rubbed on the inside of the wheels. I've put some 5mm spacers on the front to get over the problems but is appears to be becuase the new pads are so chunky.

I don't really want to leave spacers on until the pads wear, but i'm wondering whether the caliper carrier bolts are supposed to have washers on to set them back a bit further or whether i can fit some washers to cure it.

is it ok to put spacers on the caliper carrier bolts? or should they have some anyway?

cheers for any help:thumb:

Its a lug cast into the caliper that supports the pad retainer spring. You can dremel it back a couple mm without any effect.

I found this with my Alessio's years ago. Seemed odd as every Nova had Alessio's & 16v stoppers.

Its on the centre (hub) part of the alloy.

spot on craig, thats exactly the bits thats scored the alloy. Any idea if the carrier is supposed to have washers.

BTW - chuck a chubby in, nice cheap fun:thumb:
