Hello all, as the thread title suggests i'm in serious need of a new mobile phone as mine is basically falling to pieces ! I like to have a reasonably decent phone with wi-fi and a camera etc etc... but i dont want to spend loads, upto about £250 maximum. I've been looking at a couple but i'm open to suggestions, thankyou all in advance. (couple of links below of phones i've been looking at)

NOT an HTC with windows on it. Android ones are 'acceptable' but the windows ones are terrible ime

can get you a as new sony x10 mate if any use?

I personally use a bb 9700 and its an excellent bit of kit, I had this originally then went to iphone and then went back to it after smashing 2 screens and needing my battery to last more than 3/4 a day lol

Them toshiba phones are pants, sold about 4/5 in my shop and have all come back faulty :S software issues and speakers gone.

Htc phones are very good, but look at the likes of the Hero, Tatoo, Desire as the google android software is much better then the Win Mo stuff.

Personally I would go for the HTC Hero, I use a balckberry as said but the camera isnt there strong point :)

Hope this helps

iirc the bold 9700 on PAYG from orange is £350.

I have a 9700 and love it, despite trying my best to wreck it lol

Cant go wrong with a BlackBerry IMHO. Second hands ones are pish cheap on eBay now too (£100+) a mate of mine has just paid £98 delivered for a recondition 83something BlackBerry, came with a 1yr garantee.

I'd love one of those HTC Desires but theyre a bit too much for me ! £400 ish they seem to go for, i would go for one on a contract but i'm emmigrating in 2 months so it obviously wouldnt work... alot of the reviews i've read on smart phones like these seem to say they're awful, loads of awful reviews. I've got a HTC at the moment and i'm really impressed with it ! Thanks for the advice so far.

Get a iPhone second hand with 3.1.2 software on it, pay as you go sim with ublimited internet, jailbreak it, all apps are free, job done.

IMO don't get a phone with Mobile Windows on it.

Iv seen them alot cheaper than that, I don't think there much more than that new.

I know that their not to everyones taste but iv never had a better phone tbh.

Suppose it depends what you do for work aswell. For me a touch screen phone is a big no no lol so opted for a cheap & cheerful BlackBerry effort like.

alternative to a Blackberry, this is what i have got on the £15 a month option. Really good value but several tariffs available depending on how much call time you would require

Thanks for the advice all !!! So i'm right in thinking that i'm much better off getting a Android phone than a windows equipped one ? I'm now thinking of this:

Thoughts ?

Benefit of Android is you can run several apps at once..

There's a ton of free apps, too...

The GT450 is about £60 less than my GW620, but features Android 1.6 Os rather than my slightly dated 1.5, however, updates are promised from LG..

The GT450 has a 3 MP camera, GW620 features 5 MP..

Mine also has a pull out qwerty which is spot on for texting..

I would have another Android anytime, but this is all just my opinion..

Get over to a shop and try a few out...

Cheers
