What I would suggest. Seen velcro & all manner of bodges.
maybe look at anodised superbike-motorcycle panel screws as something different to run of the mill stainless fasteners.

make templates - (or i used previous fitted aftermarket cards) as a guide.. then used the black/cap'd number plates screws and caps lol

As i was cleaning car earlier i took you a couple of pics of carbon cards held on with the riv-nuts & button head screws
