As title, next mod is dry sump, has any one done this and if so where did they mount the pump and tank? Also am I right in assuming that the f28 will fit straight on my xe, I'll just have to make a new front gearbox mount? Want that 6th gear! Cheers

LOL. Why do you 'want' a dry sump setup.

Re the F28, you'll probably need a particular flywheel & clutch arrangement.

As Craig Said New Clutch And Flywheel It Wouldnt Do Any Thing To A 20xe So Please Stop Dreaming !!

WTF are you on about dreaming? I want dry sump for the track use, and the f28 for the extra gear

dry sumps are to get the engine lower. with a factory gearbox, that is not going to happen. you can baffle the sump to get a very similar effect

and the f28 is hardly a racing box

Thanks for the helpful comment mowgli, agree with what your saying about getting the engine lower but it not the sole advantage, what I'm looking for is maintaining a secure oil supply on track, but like you say baffling could do the trick for a lot less money! Also aswell, I was looking at dry sump as with the sbd type c manifold, it's very close to the floor, by dry sumping, I could get the manifold reworked to sit higher

A well baffled and gated sump will see you right.

have a look on google for hoffmanns lotus europa, I think hes got a build blog and shows how they did the dry sump on that (its a LET engine)

to be honest, you could quite easily shorten a wet sump, or move the pickup pipe & sump pot along to make the downpipes fit better.

That would work well too.

Big wing the sump to get more oil capacity and gete it to control the pickup fill.

make your own big wing sump, its not hard.

LOTS of examples about, esp from guy crofts website.

You can use an f28 clutch plate and the f28 will work fine, will need modded linkage aswell but stick to f20 for track... 6th is only good for crusing with a turbo, or if your running tiny wheels! More weight aswell!
