HOORAY! Its been a month since my so called reconditioned 1.4 engine blew up (cam pin snapped shattering all the rockers).

I finally picked he up today with another engine (out of a 1.4sr) with the addition of a new 5 speed box! :D

Prob is, I've been told to take it easy for the 1st 200 miles to allow engine to bed in (its been sat for 12 months). so got to keep eye on water, oil and keep below 55mph (keep revs to a minimum where possible).

I drive too and from work on the motorway - some 50 miles a day! :(

Very embarassing being overtaken every morning. I;ve got to literally double my travelling time now!

Oh well, i dont care - at least Ive got my car back! I can play at "cruising" 8)

:D :D :D

Ade, has this new engine been rebuilt? or just left standing, and then dropped in?
U may find some seals will break, like the "o" ring on the water pump, as an example! also, u may find that the water will turn brown, just were the water ports have gone a bit rusty coz it was stood still!
Mine did neway :?
Btw, good catch on a nice 5 speed box

If ur worried bout driving slow, just put a piece of paper in the window saying.....
"Engine running in, please be patiant or overtake carefully!"

Yeah the only reason i thought it was John walsh's was that was the name on the helmet in the net.

Was a total vauxhall cover car.
