Anyone had any useage of Halfords tools?
I know the 'Gearwrench' ratchets are meant to be good, and ive used a small socket set before and got on well with it, so based on this i have just purchased this.... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_17 3083
Seems a good deal to me!
Comes with loads of bits and bobs.
It's now "advanced" stuff, and not as good as it used to be :(
their stuff is very good, except that our local store is really running its stock of single sockets down

it ok for job's at home and that. but they do start to wear out if you use them every day(if your a fitter or some think along them lines).

I've used halfords stuff in the trade for years and its good stuff
im still using my 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets from that set i got 5 years ago. Used daily (mechanic) and still going strong!
torx sockets are crap though, the ones with the little security hole. snap-on for those lol

i don't think it would matter if you used it on a space station or anything else, as long as you didn't put a sleeve on & jump on it, it was not misuse
does this one have a porn drawer or what???

there good quality for the money imo ive had them for years but as said the torqs are a bit weak snaped another the other week undoing the head bolts
as Mark said, the "new" Advanced stuff is NOT as good as the professional branded stuff used to be.
Britool have dropped their quality a little but its still better than the old halfords professional stuff at a similar kind of price
I have a 150 piece Halfords Professional ste as well as numerous other Halfords Pro tools, and it is fairly decent stuff. Just the right side of the 'good' for the money IMO.
Yeah I have broken a few things, but it's usually down to desperation of not having a breaker bar at the time and using a 1/2" ratchet and a scaffy bar. lol
The Advanced stuff is definitley not as good. Not to mention how gay the set layout now is. Also they have always claimed it was 1/2 price, but very rarely have I seen them up for £199.99.

I think its to stop you from buying it even cheaper on trade card as its "on offer" meaning they would discount the £199 price and not the £99 price
Yeah that's probably true. Although I still got discount on mine. Depends how dizzy the bird on the till is. lol

i really rate the halfords tools i bought my socket set from there when REVS did a price comparisson in there mag years ago !!!!!!!! and 6 engine conversions and countless brake upgrades etc its still going strong !!!!!
i love the fact that if you break something you go in and if its on the shelf they replace it there and then, no receipt needed or anything. where as snap on you have to wait two weeks!!! what good is that?
i Love halfords tool sets, especially the older stuff i bought (on trade :d)
Only thing i would rather snap on is things like torque wrenches and air guns,
There boxes are pretty ace and good value for money imo
