View Full Version : GM's 3.0 V6 CDTI engine
Any show stopping common faults with them? any milage related turbo dying/chains/belts eating themselves etc?
is there a REAL difference in the drive between a 1.9CDTi 150 and the 3.0?
stuart, i did a few high pressure pumps when i was there, as a consequence swarf fooks the injectors.
so not hugely different to all common rail cost downed pumps then lol
Ive been thinking about these lately as the vectra's with the 3.0's are peanuts compared to the 150 baby brothers.
driven one and been in a chipped one. they are alot faster, esp chipped. sounds nicer too.

Thats what i saw, MPG is very similar and obv with the capacity differences it should be half as strained!
Will get on the hunt then :) Found a couple of vehicles fitting the bill but the sellers look dodgy (pictures in a retail park lmao)

Sisters boyfriend has one this past year and done 50k in it with no real problems.
It can be a bit "lazy" to start first thing in the morning, but Vauxhall can find nothing wrong with it.
Have heard of them doing in pumps, but they all seem to be remapped or tuning boxes that have done the damage.
He's getting 35-37mpg out of his, but it's well laden down with tools etc so maybe not a fair test.
They're a totally different drive to the 1.9 CDTi's, just a big lazy cruiser, don't like to be hurried along, but they can move when required!
Dont forget the Signum is availble in the 3.0 as well!

TBH the Vectra autobox's are pretty solid and with the tourqe from the 3.0 i imagine would kick down quite well lol
It's an Isuzu engine too which probably explains the slow starts, 3.0 Troopers are famous for it!

Fuel Pump, injectors, flywheels, done all of these things in the last 2 months on a 56 plate modle with 66,000 on the clock
And yeah its an Isuzu.. .
The Pump was 1200 quid and injectors are 350 each, and the fly wheel was 800 with a clutch BTW

drove a signuim elite 3.0 cdti, went extremly well, i serviced it. Only had to look at how big the front brakes were and thought this should go well then lol. It goes well and stops :)
mind you i think the 1.9 cdti goes well as well lol
I know the 1.9 is good as someone on here might have dusted an RX8 recently in a vectra lmao

we fit DPT tuning boxes where i work and i took one of these out before and after. there is a huge difference when a box is fitted and they really do go like stink when needed! id have one if i had the cash like

just bought a 1.9 cdti sri 150 facelift ,goes well with dtuk tuning box,dont think the dual mass flywheel & clutch will last to long due the increase in tourque:roll: ,the 3.0 v6 is supposed to be just as good if not better
not really interested in chipping it so the DMF will be as safe as she lets it be lol
DMF's arent the end of the world i had mine done on the mondeo, cost £350 fitted.
there was a company offering solid fly convrsions for most cars, sant remember who. most dmf's are cheaper now aswell

Yeah they were for my car well almost they had the 5 speed kits out but mines a 6 speed (like 90% of them on the road)

Its a little different to a nova gsi fuel pump!
your gay. its not like a cheapo petrol fuel pump, its a completely different thing. due to th epreassures needed for a direct inj derv, its made to higher tolerances, and usually hs the ecu built in. hence 1200 squids. google search direct injection diersel and have a read.
Common rail Diesel Pumps are far far far from cheap, Even for the OEMS!!!!
Modern common rail injectors, pumps, rails etc are all mega cash because they have to cope with 200-2000BAR!!!!! (bear in mind that most petrol engines run at 5Bar tops) and they have to meter out tiny tiny tiny volumes of fuel.
Thats why the derv engined option of a car is more money than the petrol equivalent.
And then theres the fitting of said item too, not just like 2 pipes and a couple of self tappers lol

i once saw a hi-ace van at toyota that had a misfiring injector. the spray pattern was aimed all at one point instead of a nice even disribution. said injector cut thru the piston, and the block in 1600 miles. :wtf:
also, never ever undo a direct injection diesel pipe when its running or hasnt been de-pressurized. you will lose fingers etc. same goes for direct injection petrols.
pffft direct injection petrol is only at 45Bar (might still sting though)... we had a problem where the Derv rail pressure varied by 50Bar lmao
