You can pick up an early mk3 mondeo TDDI (115bhp), or if you're lucky a TDCI (130bhp) for that money if you don't mind high mileage. Pish easy to drive, and parts don't cost as much as VAG bits do.

nout lol. its fine mechanically. its just a bit juicy. and the insurance isnt low either lol.
Find yourself a few more £ and buy my tdci 130 2005 mondeo lol
Considering your requirements i would get a clio 1.5 dci £35 a year tax and 50mpg and nippy enough,
lupo tdi 130. epic fast small hatch, chippable to 150 and 180 bhp, and great on derv. can be got for peanuts. or a seat ibiza tdi or arosa. for cheap boosty fun, try a 205 1.9 tdi, and up the boost and fuel. should find one for £500, make sure its a tdi not a di tho.
I had a 205 1.9td for a while... my god it was hateful, proper old fashioned mechanicly controlled derv of nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, BOOOST changegear, nothing, nothing etc
lupo tdi 130
There is no such thing, Lupo's never came with the 1.9 engine, either 1.4 TDi or 1.7 SDi............

Seat Leon FR.
For a grand I's say 18 TD Ford or a TD Vaux, pre-common rail.

best tell my neighbour her car dont exist then....
and i know its a 1.9 as i serviced it last month.
edit: just text her, apparently the v5c says 1900cc, yet the mot says 1400. very strange...

Seat Leon FR.
I will buy as many as you can find me for a grand and i will give you £500 for each one!

I hope you went and got the parts and they laughed so so so very hard at you as you left.
(as I'd expect to have the same treatment if I went for parts for a car that didnt exist)
lol @ the sloth epicness again!

Well to be fair the 1.4 is just a 1.9 with a cylinder chopped off the end, so all service parts like filters are probably the same...........
But if it exists I want one, a tuned 1.9 TDi in a Lupo would be brilliant!! I'd a Skoda Fabia with 220bhp and it was fun, so a Lupo could only be better!

yes but if you rock on upto a parts place and ask for parts to a car that dosent exist then its ace... even if the parts fit :p
Have to say a mates Lupo is comfier and has more head room (in the front) than ANY other VAG car lol, good skills there on the rest of the shoddy line up of dire cars
