how many are you allowed?

wisewood
25-04-03, 04:21 PM
12

Dave
25-04-03, 04:23 PM
think it's 9 in your first 2 years don't quote me on that though

?Marty?
25-04-03, 04:31 PM
You're allowed 6 points in first 2 years. Then you re-take your test, but points stay on. Of course.

At the moment, you may be offered a driver awareness course (about ?90) insetad of fine and points if caught first time.

It's 12 points before you're automatically banned. A minimum of six months i think.

I have 9 points. For 'enthusiastic' driving.

Shiiiiiit, the speed limits were set years ago. For morris minors and stuff. With drum brakes all round. So i drive faster! Big deal. It's still well withing mine and the car's capabilities.

Speed kills? Nope. It's crashin into people that does that.

Speed limits are to do with safety, road conditions, location and stopping distances. But the stopping distances according to the highway code are all wrong, and have even been proved to be.

wisewood
25-04-03, 04:40 PM
yupp, stopping distances have remained teh same for YEARS and YEARS.

philG's nova stopped from 70 in about 30 feet, if that... and thats just normal braking system without abs or anything, and not the best brake setup in the world (no offence phil, you know what i mean). Highway code would set that distance to at least twice that - dont know the figures though

Nova-Flair

0 points or producers since january :D

*touch wood!* (the non wise type)

stopping distances are bollocks though! u can tell marty has been reading max power

lol..

took my friend over that same stopping test after his dad MOT'd the car and he said brake efficiency was low - later figured out my mnifold had been catching on the hump in the middle of their brake rollers and *just* effecting the reading..

suffice to say he didnt think they were inefficient after..

MWAHAHHA

I have nil poi points!

Only been pulled once for overtaking a traffic cop in a 30 zone - he was doing 25 and I couldnt pull in behind him coz there was no spaces and I had to get in to his lane. Everyone just bunched up like sheep behind him!

:x

Explained it - he said fine! :D

Just out of curiosity whats a "producer" and do points stay on for 4 or 5 years?

onephatnova
26-04-03, 05:11 PM
Just out of curiosity whats a "producer"

a producer is where you have to produce/show your current documents - usually just your MOT / Insurance Certificate / Driving Licence - into your local Dibble Shop (aka police station)...
