Went out to my nephews birthday party, I got 2 miles from the house and BEEEEP oil pressure warning light, then the AA now it's at audi needing a f*****g oil pump.

So the game is guess the cost? It also needs a service, timing belt, aircon fixed and whatever else they decide is wrong with it lol

my guess is £1400

Why take it to a dealer? They are always gonna cost more.

Get your hands dirty and do it your self.

lol at the prices, i done my mate Ibiza Cupra, timing belt kit took me all of..... 30mins. Even my big cous's A4 didnt take long and i had to remove the bumper, as you have to on A4's and passats. Dont take it to a dealer you will be bent over.

Is it at Audi?

My dad has an S3 quattro (225 one). He always takes his to the local Audi dealer, pays top whack prices - a basic service (oil, filters, plugs) was >£400!

I reckon you're looking at ~£1300-£1500.

[edit] scratch that, I thought it was just the belt lol Oil pump plus belt plus service plus air con, = £2k. My dad did have A/C sorted not long ago, can't remember the exact cost but it was ££££

dj_wudgey
25-04-10, 08:46 PM
not what you need mate £1500 is mental though id fix it myself!! even if it took slightly longer than it would take audi lol

4doors is for gays lol and you think its costly now, wait till you get one of these, Set of discs all round on the Monaro.....1400 sheets, cheap at half the price lol

bazil
25-04-10, 10:34 PM
It's cheaper than a RS4, I'd love one of those but whatever I buy will be used everyday and will be abused,

Stuart
25-04-10, 10:37 PM
Did you stop before the pump fully died?

I'd say it will cost more than the car is worth lol

bazil
25-04-10, 10:43 PM
Cheers lol yeah I did stop before it gave up, my mates let had no oil pressure and it's cost him a full rebuild and a new crank, f**k paying vag rebuild prices

Stuart
25-04-10, 10:43 PM
partly I'm devaluing the car because its VAG and partly because the bills are uber silly lol

bazil
25-04-10, 10:50 PM
Uber silly NEVER, it only cost me just over £900 after it's last service, hence the reason for this silly guess the price thread :)

Rich
25-04-10, 11:37 PM
they wouldnt rebuild the engine, they would price in a new one and replace it. probably will get told it needs an engine, they have to cover themselves, if they put a pump on and it gives up in 2 months whos going to be banging on their door?

lol

£4.5k

B4stards! I would have demanded one FOC, given how much you are gonna be paying them! Also some of those nice boiled sweets. lol

Jon_nova1
30-04-10, 05:06 PM
You can't even rape courtesy cars anymore, i got told if it comes back damaged, they'll take £500 of me and give me the change...but for only £5.99 per day they'll go through the insurance instead!

bazil
30-04-10, 05:07 PM
There is a couple of small rust spots appearing on the doors so I'm going to claim the 12 year warrantty on the paint and get it repaired, I need to get something for nothing lol

Sloth
30-04-10, 05:11 PM
hang on, you paid 1k for a pressure sensor?

either your being mugged off,

or theyre fitting alot of other bits too.

you could get a spare apy motor for £600!!!!

lol the list goes like so, supply and fit sensor, supply and fit all drive and timing belts, full service, locate and fix oil leak, supply front discs and pads, supply 2 track rod ends,

they wanted £130 to supply and fit 1 rod end lol £82 per hour labour FTW

30-04-10, 10:46 PM
This is why if you can just afford a fancy car you also need to remeber you need to afford to get it fixed aswell, but think of this a pair of front standard discs for a RS4 audi to supply only will cost £900 yes they really do cost £450 EACH

Jack
30-04-10, 10:49 PM
Tell me about it - CCUK is full of people who bought GT4s thinking "wow, £3k is cheap", but then not realising when it comes to service time they're a £30k rally car lol

pikey1986
30-04-10, 10:53 PM
i bet 90% of people forget that, it what puts me off getting something fancy/rare, for that kind of money id expect a 'happy finish' from the managers wife

edit

too slow lol

bazil
30-04-10, 10:57 PM
Jack, I bet alot of good gt4's go to the doghouse due to poor service and maintanence, less we forget both cars are 4wd,turbo charged, and let's be honest most of us dont ponce around at 40 mph it only makes sence to look after what you've got.

At a rough calculation my car has cost me less than £500 per year over the six years I had it in service and repair costs, and has only let me down twice, both occasions it has been wanting serviced and I put it off, my own fault then.

although he found a set of RS4 calipers...front and rear....FOURTY notes!

i see your point, our lasses celica ss2 has just had disks and pads. its an import so has the same disks pads and calipers as a lexus gs300, so i got fubar'd for £200. for pattern parts. :(

Jack
01-05-10, 11:25 AM
Eh? GS300 brakes are the same diameter and thickness but different mounting sizes. You sure you're not thinking of MR2 SW20 brakes, the SSS versions of the SS2 and 3 used them; non-SSS versions used the same brakes as the UK GT. Except for early ones which the same brakes as the UK ST.
