I'm looking into getting one of these purely for cheap insurance and running costs. I don't care if it's slow and boring, it'll do the job whilst I build up some no claims.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them? I just want to know how reliable the little 1.0 12V engines are tbh. The one I'm going to look at is an 03 plate which has been very well looked after, has full main dealer service history and covered 68K which isn't bad.

So basically after a bit of helpful info regarding reliablity please!

Cheers.

Suffer from timing chains failing and gear linkages but other than that theyre ok.

my brothers got a 1.0 12v corsa.

its not fast lol. but as far as im aware theyre pretty reliable. but have heard of problems as theyre ment to have a timing chain? which apparently is hard to fix if it goes wrong.

Edit : ComptonCJ beat me lol.

12v **** spec corsa C's can be picked up very cheap!

Timing chains tend to go around 100k, Not bad to change infact, your ment to use some locking tools though (Picked up for £30).

AFM's go wrong from time to time, as do EGR's, Neather a big issue, pish easy to change.

Other than that the engines are solid as a rock, One in my B has done 170k and still works lol

Just keep an eye out for the dial problem on the C's as that can cause a lot of problems, but its no biggy again.

i think there was a recall by GM, on the timing chain fault.
as been said cv boots come of.
and the oil pressure switch on the front left corner of engine leaks.
apart from that not bad ;)
