I have the tom tom app and it works perfectly

when i have the iphone connected through my stereo it stoppes the music and gives me the directions through the speakers

I have the CoPilot UK (27.99 one)
And it works fine

Only issue being sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to determine the position of you, but after that its fine,

No. I have a TomTom.

I've navicon on mine and it pretty good but not a patch on buying a proper Tom Tom, tbh there a bit slow really for running sat nav apps. Buy the real macoy IMO ;)

my 3gs runs it real good
still not quite as good as a propper satnav
