Hi guys.

My name is Hal. I've just bought a Nova 1.3 SR in exceptional condition. You all know this car, it was PabloSR's.

You may also know of my brother, Nova_Tek. Just thought I'd like to say a friendly hello.

Look forward to spending many hours on here :thumb:

Will post pics soon as I get the car and post 15, or get my bro to do it for me (whichever comes first).

Cheers.

Hi. That restored SR looked good.

It'll be nice to see larger pics of it as Pablo always put up little thumbnails.

Thanks for all the comments chaps.

Plans for the moment will be to put the 16" Softstars I currently have on my Cavalier, get a spanking set of springs and dampers (thinking Eibach Sportlines with Bilsteins or KYBs) and a stainless steel exhaust.

Further down the line, I'm tempted by a power increase (I don't want to go down the XE or LET route) I have a great engine to work on so I'll stick to that. I am in no immediate rush though. I just want to collect the car and get familiar with the old girl first.

The subtle mods i.e. wheels, suspension and exhaust, will probably favour me for the time being. The car is in great condition and it is a rarity to have an iconic car in standard guise.

Will post pics as soon as I get an oppurtunity :thumb:

Evening gents.

Well we went to pick the car up today. As we pulled up to PabloSR's (Paul) house I saw a gleaming immaculate Nova. I was chuffed at the condition of the Nova. I took it for a test drive round the block and check a few bits and bobs over, and all was well.

On the way home, I noticed there are a few little problems which need sorting out i.e. noisey speedo until 50mph, noisey rear wheel bearings and squeeky steering on half turn, slight tappity engine (but could be due to not being used much) and a slight blow on the centre part of the exhaust. All these problems however are an easy fix and the car is well worth it.

The car did drive very well and very smooth. I opened the taps slightly on the M25 and it pulled with a lot of strength.

When we got home I realised I lost a passenger rear wheel cap on the alloy :( which was the only downside to the day lol

Nevertheless, the car is absolutely brilliant and mint. I have a Red Sparco strut brace ready to go on, along with a donor centre section and sportex back box (for the time being until I get a proper stainless system).

I could see how much effort Paul put into the Nova with it's restoration. He was a top guy, and it was a pleasure to see this effort reflected in his MK2 Cavalier Calibre with the immaculate Redtop and his Cavalier GSI which unfortunately wasn't there.

I'll try and get my bro to post some pics up :thumb:

Thanks mate.

Yeah the bumpers were sprayed with the same grey as the bottom half of the car.

I should get an email from Paul about the exact names of the colours. It certainly sets it apart from the plastic trimmed ones.

I'll be sure to start a WIP thread once I get problems sorted and mods on.

is this the one which was on retro rides.... and the guy bought it for his daughter and she didnt want it.

i think its kinda ruined because of the small bits added/taken away.

like the skirts, the rub strips etc etc

does look very clean though

Thanks guys.

I suppose some people would much rather have the OE spec i.e. vinyls and no skirts on the car but hey, Paul did a great job on maintaining the original look within reason.

Welcome to PNG.

That is a very clean looking SR, bumpers etc all look very factory, I think the paint is quite an improvement over the OEM plastic.

Like I said before it's all a matter of taste. I don't mind it the way it is.

I want to sort the tailgate out though. I don't think the boot lock's plastic strip does any favours to the back end so I may get it body coloured.

But once I get the wheels on, gte bumper and exhaust it'll definately look a lot smarter whether I paint that strip or not.
