Since fitting my solid mounts and redrilling the hole on the rear gearboxmount bracket ive been having issues like the driveshaft catching the chassis leg. My car is perfectly straight and all suspension components are new. The only thing
we can think is that it's due to the engine sitting to far back due to the rear solid mount and the redrilled rear bracket hole being to far forward (I drilled the hole according to others on here's word/advice) has any one had these issues before btw it's a c20xe f20 c astley shafts comp mounts etc. Should I just go back to the standard rubber mounts andlever the engine to the correct hole on the rear mount as there is fool all give in these ones to do it, help!

Also, I have already boxed the chassis leg on the pas side as it was the same as your pic but it's the drivers side that catching now, the shaft itself in the same place, can't really box that side as it's catchin where the seams meet, has any one else had these probs? It's doin my fruit in lol

Looks like it all needs shifting forward a bit.. Loosen the front gear box box and pull it forward. That will move the shaft away from the shell.

^agreed but Im not lookin forward to levering it forwards as there is no give at all in those mounts, has any one had any success getting the proper hole lined up when using the solid mounts?

I've got the same solid mounts (CAMS ones) and the rear one didn't line up for me either , so as a temporary messure i stuck the standard one on, the engine doesnt move at all with just the fronts ones, and the standard rear one is still on now 12 months later!

Ok thanks, but I was thinking that its the 'solidness' of the fronts not allowing the engine to move forward to get the rear bolt through?

if you slacken off the front mounts on the block and gearbox it should give you a bit of play to move it forward then just tighten them back up

ive got solid mounts, and just loosened all the nuts / bolts and started to crow bar the life out the engine. It now sits in place. Im running an f16 which im sure is similar in size to the f20 with no problems... best of luck though, its not easy :)

How much of a gap should you have from the chassis leg to the shaft drivers side? About 10 mm?

Can any one confi the gap on drivers side shaft to chassis leg think I've cured it if it's about 10 mm

Sounds about right that mate as long as theres a gap it'll be fine.

Well if that's about right, 10 mm it was a fairly easy fix, my Tie bar was bent lol
