View Full Version : nova spit, rollover
someone i know is really into his novas and has made a spit for his grandsons car which i saw in use and was very impressed ,so i had him make me some up, im sure youve all seen them before but i will put pics up of mine in a couple of days. If anyone is interested i can have him make more up in flat pack form, should take no longer than an hour to assemble if you have a basic knowledge of welding but can be bolted together. he charges £80 which is a fraction over the material costs and i thought it was pretty reasonable as there selling on ebay for £140+, i will inquire about postage but i will assume about £20 as they are heavy, please pm if you are interseted:thumb: you are welcome to collect from iver heath ,bucks if you wish
please note: these will fit other cars but may need to be adjusted

same interested pending pics
pics not too good but you get the idea. I havent used mine yet as i havent needed it but they operate very simply and should last many a year! two holes need to be drilled to mount the crossbar to the two front and rear bumper brackets on the chassis. Also you may want to drill multiple holes at 45 degrees 90 etc in the tubing that the crossbar pivots on. i collected two seperate spits today ready to be sent out or collected(bottom left, first pic), pm me only please, cheers:thumb:

can also assemble the spits for £25 but it limits you to collection only as i think they'll bit a bit on the large side, but can deliver for what it costs me in diesel. cheers

have you or anyone else got pictures of these mounted onto a nova? what weight limits have these been used to?
i will put pics up of nova mounted onto spit as soon as i can, i spoke to the fella and hes confident you wouldnt have a problem with 1.5 tonnes. i will ask what type of box section he uses but its very heavy in weight and easy 4mm thick. they have been designed so that weight is distrubuted evenly and pivots on the center of gravity so car is perfectly balanced and very easy to spin round. ill put my nova on the spits soon and anyone from png is welcome to come and have a look at them in action (10 mins from M4 J5), just pm me, cheers.
the metal used is: 40mm x 40mm x 3mm thick (not 4mm lol) and its mild steel. and i believe the ones being sold on ebay for £140 plus are only 2mm thick!

how would you get the car up to the same height as the spits to mount them?

engine crane, lift it, they weigh piss all any way lol
how would you get the car up to the same height as the spits to mount them?
if youve ever striped a nova to shell you will know how light they are, you and a mate could easy get it mounted, or if your feeling a little puney just use some axle stands and a jack. simples:thumb: im going to attempt mine by myself, probly tomorrow, will get pics up when done.

ok thats great, will be very interested one i have seen pictures of it mounted
Just to say 3mm thick might not sound a lot but 3mm box section on something like this is MORE than enough!

Your not wrong fella, but when it comes to suspending your pride and joy 2ft in the air, in its most delicate state it could be in, MORE than enough is definitely my preference lol :thumb:

any pictures of a spit in use yet?
they work in the same principle as every other spit on the market, 2 A frames with 360 pivoting mounting bars, 1 at either end of the car, (as pictured) voila!
i will get pics of it in use as soon as i have time, check ebay as one of the sellers has a vid, just mine are stronger and cheaper... FACT lol
cant beleive theres been no interest in these, there still lying in my yard??? £100 delivered anyone?
Hi mate, have you still got the spit as im interested?
i built my own 1 out of 3mm box section and i will be putting it on this week so i will find out if it holds but have no problem thinking it will but it is a bit bigger than the 1 in this pic
it cost 100 pound to get all the box section cut and i welded it myself you can get them from ebay 100 + but no 1 would post this far north lol
FREE BUMP
youll have no problems with 3mm box section, its extremely strong, as long as the welds on the pivoting bar are strong you will be able to hold a jeep! you should have asked me mate, i would have posted it to your door all ready to weld together for £100, and yes they are on ebay for around £140 but as ive said before thats only 2mm box section!
and to all those interested i have two flat packs here ready to be shipped out or i can have them assembled for an extra £25 but unfortunately cant send them due to size, so to clarify thats 2 fully assembled spits ready to accept most cars for £105 collection only, cheers
