just fitted a c14se to my nova the engine came from a corsa

the engine starts fine but won't select gear, i've tried putting it into gear using the selector on top of the box but nothing happens

is there a special way the linkage needs attached when fitting it

its not the linkage pole its the part on top of the box

Have u used the original g/box that was in your car?
Have you had the top off the g/ box ?
When u select the gear from the box does it seem to go into gear?

ive had this problem with the C14SE, but every gear on the g/box i had was reverse, even reverse lol

after fitting a new box all was sorted, even though the original box was fine in the corsa i took the lump out of

Have you started it without shafts?

the shafts are fitted im using the gearbox from the corsa but i've had the top of the box as i had to cut the rear mount off the corsa and swapped the whole linkage including the part on the top of the box

the linkage is from a 1.0 4 speed
could that be the problem? the linkages look the exact same

the gearbox was fine in the corsa

if you've used the top off the 1.0 box this is probabily your problem as i think the 1.0 boxes only fit the 1.0 iirc.

when the tops off Make sure you get the three slides in line in the centre, this should be nuetral...
When fitting the top make sure the lever fits into the slides..
When connecting your linkage, I find it easier to put the box in reverse, and then put the gear stick, into the reverse position, then pull the gear stick ever so slightly towards the rear of the car (5mm - 10mm)
then tighten up the bolt, it won't be far away at that but may need slight adjustment.

The 4speed selector box wont work with a 5speed box, dispite there being a 5speed diagram on the top.

But as said its prob as youve not got it in the right place. Slighty confused as to why you would have taken that off anyway.

when you say the 3 slides do you mean inside the box yeah

the linkage is attached to the rear mount and the bolt was seized on the corsa so had to cut the mount off that's why i used the nova linkage

ill swap the part that goes into the top of the box with the corsa one
