View Full Version : silk or matt emulsion?

as title, please help

in the not too distant future i'll be decorating me bedroom but have no idea which one would be best to use, i need the finish to be durable enough to wipe clean;) and as i know less about paint than i do quantum physics need a few oppinions,

Silk.

Matt gives a "dry" finish, so its hard to get marks etc off it.

silk for that but i prefer matt :)

Matt for a ceiling, vynal silk for walls.

Just remember vynal silk takes forever to dry & it doesnt cover very well. BTW if you paint it straight onto bare/fresh plaster it'll just peel off :thumb:

LOL silk is ment to leave a "shiny" finish lol lol same as "Soft Sheen" effect paints. It dries patchy when not enough coats have been put on :thumb:

im going to apply 2 coats on top of a white base coat so fingers crossed i should get a reasonable finsish lol

pikey, just don't do what my mum did.....woodchip...... try and talk your way out of a grazed knee & blood on the wall after your girlfriend goes home........

lol, i have vauge(sp) memories of woodchip from the house i grew up in, even then i hated it,
altho its my room its my mrs thats pulling the strings, i tried to explain to her that i only sleep and watch tv in their so the colour of the walls didn't matter but she threatened me with a sex ban so i had to give in lol

all i can say is i used matt in my front room and it is really bad for marks quite hard to get out you end up rubbing the paint off aswell lol

thankfully she's going for a cream/brown theme to match me built in wardrobes, if she was to choose pink id take mikes advise and punch her in the face lol
