View Full Version : saving radio stations and other settings

ive got a pioneer 6500, everytime i turn engine off and back on all the radio stations and settings are lost. :(

ive had look at the manual but dont say anythin any hep would be great!

Take the stereo out and have a look at the power connections on the back, in particular I think the problem will lie with the yellow and red wires. On Nova's these are "the wrong way round" so to speak. One is a constant 12v supply and the other is a switched 12v

Most cars have wire like this :-
Constant - Normally RED - Always has 12v regardless of whether ignition is on / off - this is how a stereo 'remembers' the radio settings / time etc etc
Switched - Normally YELLOW - Only has 12v when the igntion is turned on.

As far as I've always known the Nova has the colours the wrong way
Constant will be YELLOW
Switched will be RED

So your best bet it to simply unplug them (If using the normally 'bullet' connectors) or if they've been soldered / crimped together, cut the wires and wire them the other way. Then your problems should be solved.

- But if it all goes up in smoke then don't blame me!!

cus also get a test lamp to make sure the wires are correct.. and will help ya with wiring it back up if needbe..

its all vauxhalls with the wires the wrong way around i think. just do what jules says and your sorted.
