right, having spent 3 hrs trying to work this out, my mind is fried.
basically, i have a c16se. if i fit a 14nv head, will the compression ratio go up or down. also if i fit a 1.2 spi head will it go up or down?
finally any idea on comp ratio for both combinations?

cheers!!!

What they both said^^^.

The 1.6's have a deep well in the head were as the 1.4 & 1.2's have the same smaller well so will massivly increase the compression ratio.

funk, i want it to drop. any ideas? crank changes?

Fit 1400 pistons rods and crank then the 1.6 head that should drop it?

What you planning to do with it?

Turbo?

yep. just read the other thread in general, best bet is getting a c16nz bottom end and using the c16se head/management etc. time to go shopping methinks...

with the 1.4 crank you get a 1.4 engine.... pissing in the wind lol

True just though of that lol.

so, best bet is a c16nz bottom end, c16se head and management and the usual bits.

Whats the plan? turbo?

If so then yes to the c16nz block because it has different (lower cr) pistons than a e/c16se

i was quite taken with the thread where the lad fitted a 1.2 spi crank into his 1600, and had a 1400 with about 7:1cr.

now that would have been hilarious turboed up

I thought all 8v cranks were the same.......
Its the rods/pistons that give the stroke length different.

Or vice versa, one of the two anyway!

indeed. 10:1 and put the boost in late

10.1,

shave about 5mm of the head, and dremal the pistons out

FTW :p
