Personal Number Plates... Discuss.

Ok i've allways wanted a personal number plate and if i could have 1 it would be this... (Because my last name is BARTON)

Anyways i've been looking at this... (Because i was born 19'90' and my initials are TJB) But... the 'V' is out of place and doesn't mean anything unless for when i get a Golf next and it could stand for Volkswagen?
It's going pretty cheap at just under £400 and that's with all the charges included.
What would you do?
Treat yourself or just leave it?
Theres also a 'X90 TJB' but that's anoother 80 quid ish.

I know my dad would just tell me to leave it and save my money but that reg could be too good to miss in a few years at that price and it would be with me for a long time so would be a good investment. ???

Anyone on here care to shead some light on experiences with them etc...

Forgot to mention there is loads of really cheap ones that have TJB at end but the 1st lot of numbers and letters are random and mean jack sh1t to me

The prices of yours and many other peoples is why i am sooo tempted because i can get 1 with my initials and year i was born or 1 with year i was born + a scene thing where it would say DUB for under £300 lol.
Defo going to wait till i get a new car though now.

I wouldnt bother getting a reg which is to do with a specific car, unless you plan to keep that car for life. I love private reg's, really finished off the car and makes it your own. However, it could get expensive and annoying if you change cars alot.

I have never really been a fan of plates that people dont know what they mean, ie. just some initials. Keep checking dvla for all kinds off plates to do with your name and im sure you will find something. I also wouldnt be put off by the price of them as they should technically be with you for life.

Which is why i would lean more towards V90 TJB even though the V doesn't stand for anything well i have a VW i could say it stood for VW but when i don't i can just say it's a random letter in the reg to make it cheaper.

Disagree - the private plate would have a greater audience for resale than a name-based one (all the people with the same kinda car would be potential buyers), assuming its not a basic one that can be had in other configurations, such as T90 DUB when R90 DUB, V90 DUB, D90 DUB etc are all available. Plus as well its another little touch on the car that could add a few quid come vehicle resale time.

Unless it's something very obvious (i.e. expensive) don't kid yourself that it means anything. Mis-spacing and adding 'bolts' to 'make words' is also tragic!

I got M666SJD a few years back now for £250 from DVLA (SJD are my initials). I then got K666SJD a year later to go on the nova for £250 again. Sadly, as my current nova is a G reg neither plate can go on. :(

I dont agree mate, i hate the J 20xe one on mine, i want it rid, for tow reasons, 1 it gives the game away! lol and two it's money i could use in the car! :thumb:

I prefer ones that mean something to you, name etc.
