Gonna refurb the calipers today. Just wondering if I need to lubricate the piston before I push it back into the caliper. I know it'll be a tight squeeze but will it need some sort of fluid to help it in or should it be refitted dry.

If it needs lubing up what do I use? Brake fluid or oil?

I used copper slip!

Cheers Garyc, I assume you used that to prevent it from seizing. Should have some copper grease in the garage.

Thanks :thumb:

have you actually stripped the caliper down & removed the piston????

if you have, then a small amunt of brake fluid would seem to me to be the right stuff to use, if not, then simply wind it in slowly using a g clamp

also what make is it?

All done. Managed to get the piston in. The hardest was tryna fit the rubber boot around the piston and into to the inner lip of the piston housing. What a ball ache!

Used a tiny bit of copper slip around the rubber seal but it went in a treat.

It's the ATE 256x24mm calipers.
