that is ridiculus. on the site he says professional team. he has no lift, no tools, cant even take a nova engine out by himself, they practically fall out! im not one to slag other members, but putting them pictures on a website for a business he's trying to set up is hilarious.

tbh I dont think that would matter much given the rest of the hilarity we have seen
is the vxr's management stand alone because its still in the box???
wasnt it going to be on megasquirt???!?!?!?!?!? while I support the MS project in terms of what it stands for but NOT for using on a real engine like that lol
i can't see how fitting a vxr ecu & loom could be that difficult really
http://ngracing.co.uk/NovaVXR.html
Sorry, I burst out laughing at this.
got round to doing some work on the nova again and bolted the f28 to the vxr engine and trial fitted it to see what room i had and what needed doing...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/Bottlethroddy/CANNOTDO.png
maybe it shoul be NFG racing, as in No F***ing Good
i can't see how fitting a vxr ecu & loom could be that difficult reallyvery. its canbus, its like wiring the space shuttle engine into a nova. ms would have run it fine. there is a vid on youtube of a vxr running on ms and finding 30bhp over std ecu.
and i'd love to see it try to run the same economy & emissions as the factory management
and i'd love to see it try to run the same economy & emissions as the factory management
Well it wouldn't, but I bet it would be a damn site more economical than a smokey old LET
let_nova
12-04-10, 11:12 PM
but if it was in a nova it wouldnt be built for economy though?
see your point though
thing is, its the same as fitting any big block to a nova, if i had the spare dollars i'd buy it. its at 1k now on bay...
thing is, its the same as fitting any big block to a nova, if i had the spare dollars i'd buy it. its at 1k now on bay...
I wasn't aware the usual conversion mounts fitted and standard management was usable, good info. :wtf:
is that sarcasm? if not, then yes, its the same mount points. and bh a ms setup at 400 o get it runnin is cheap.
so a vxr engine is just a snazzy new label, and its just a turbo ecotec???????
i am shocked
blue_peg_16v
13-04-10, 09:06 AM
what a chancer
Its not that hard to find extra power on turbo engines because they get pegged for emissions purposes and lifespan given they will be driven by overly keen retards.
MS is a great idea and Mtech have made a good stab at improving it to make it more 'pro' but its still a fair way off being what I'd class as a good reliable ecu for use on anything bar ITB's
oh and sloth have neg rep for being wrong and gay (I dont care how many places you can quote the use of bus from, its NOT how its known/called)
so a vxr engine is just a snazzy new label, and its just a turbo ecotec???????

yep. suprising huh?

Marketing folks know jack**** about engieering products ;)
trust me, I use to write the fucking software to communicate over CAN... but oh noes you cant take a fact of realness can you :p
Take a look at the vector, mentor graphics, bosch, and many many other automotive electronics/CAN suppliers ;) engineering > marketing
meh, its all just wiring.lol
and the fact that just about everyone is scared of it makes me laugh oh so much... its all piss easy :p

lol I wouldn't say that different turbo, injectors, pistons, spray bars etc etc was just an ecotec (nor a Z20LET). It's a derivative yes but it's not the same engine.
As for the CAN/CANBus :tard: lol I'm with Stu on this one.

it was meant as a joke. i know there are internal differences.
btw i do know of a lad running a x20xev with zlet pistons and a zleh turbo on ms.:thumb:
Napalm_27 could of had it running if he had done the easy thing of fitting a z20let loom, ecu, transponder then had that ecu mapped for the larger Vxr afm and injectors, no need to swap turbo etc job done.
and the fact that just about everyone is scared of it makes me laugh oh so much... its all piss easy :p
indeed, zlet CANbus (<--just for you stu, x ) is 2 wires for signals. the zleh needs the stereo and clocks to run tho. personally, i'd junk the stuff and fit ms/omex/dta/a pidgeon on speed, or whatever you want.:thumb:

Basically, he "knows" anyone running any form of engine you can even fantasise about on any (mostly pikey) management known to man, and its always going to be making more power than you can jizz at too lol

Thing is you use a angle grinder beautifully, Numpty27 couldn't handle a electric toothbrush without failing lol
i remember back in about 1992, when i got hold of a rolled gte, and planned to use the engine... a long line of professional people told me it would not be possible.. so i reverse engineered the loom to work out what it all did, haynes had nothing in the book. oh, and i stuck it in a mk1 astra.
how things progress eh......

do you even know anything about what happened..?
as alot of people like to bandwagon alot on forums
if not this is what happened
i broke my cavalier for parts as i blew the gearbox
sold parts recieved money
spent the money thinking id get more from other parts so i could send everything out at once
i was wrong the garage got boarded up everyone started moaning
(to which i dont blame them as i was taking awhile to send things off)
i then couldnt sell anything else got stuck with no money and lots of parts to send off
jamie d off mig bailed me out which im very grateful for and STILL owe him a massive thankyou and favour/pennies

Starting a business is all about reputation and word of mouth. Take Chris Astley. He worked his knackers off at the start, and got himself a dman good reputation for quality and value for money. His business grew and for whatever reason, the customer service side started to slip and a lot of instances popped up on forums where people were not getting any information from him for missing parts. I doubt even for a second Chris was doing this deliberately, but once word spreads that your taking money and then vanishing for months on end, people stop using you, and eventually the business collapsed. Again, I am only speculating that this was the reason, or even a factor, but it cant have helped.
Napalm, despite your pleadings, look at the evidence? You have somehow made pretty much every vauxhall forum on planet earth either ban you completely or restrict your selling abilities in some way, you start projects and then fail to complete them (for whatever reason) and you want to start a business tuning vauxhalls????
Chris made it clear he had too much on his hands with work and his personal life, but someone buying a clutch kit and then having to wait for it for 4 months with no word and no one picking up the phone doesnt care if his home life is hectic. its a business at the end of the day.
You couldnt finish the VXR for other reasons I understand (as per above) Fair enough. But im afraid the same thing applies mate, if you want to build a reputation to run a business from, a load of shonkly half assed attempts at engine swaps and a swarm of people who claim to have been ripped off isnt exactly a stable platform.
As for the ebay thing, I tend to agree that if it was reported by someone on here, then it was mightily uncalled for HOWEVER thats not to say i dont have the opinion that whoever comes to spend money (that could buy a reasonably tidy M3) on a VXR nova, which is in fact, just a nova shell with a VXR engine (minus the turbo??!!) sat on a pallet next to it, is going to want to punch you in the face.
But at the same time, if someone pays you for it, and they dont punch you in the face, then you are the worlds most amazing salesman, and if i start a business in the future where I need one, ill be knocking on your door!
do you even know anything about what happened..?
as alot of people like to bandwagon alot on forums
if not this is what happened
i broke my cavalier for parts as i blew the gearbox
sold parts recieved money
spent the money thinking id get more from other parts so i could send everything out at once
i was wrong the garage got boarded up everyone started moaning
(to which i dont blame them as i was taking awhile to send things off)
i then couldnt sell anything else got stuck with no money and lots of parts to send off
jamie d off mig bailed me out which im very grateful for and STILL owe him a massive thankyou and favour/pennies
even tho he was just getting the parts for the people instead of helping me out
i was young and a total tosser for it i learned my lesson and have corrected my ways

chris was very unfortunate and made the mistake of trying to go at it alone when he had to much for one person to handle but thats been discussed and isnt relavent atall
i definitely didn't report it... anyone serious enough about cars would not have bid silly money on it... it was probably the dad of the kid who was bidding on it......
i did report one once. some idiot was selling a 1.4 saloon with a cheap carbar turbo sticker as a genuine turbo nova & the bidding was going crazy, so i felt duty bound to report it before it got messy.. the seller sent me a nasty message & i sent him my reasons why..
but i also regularly send messages to people who have listed stuff wrongly, advising them to correct it so they can sell the item.. its amazing how many people can't spell

Reputation is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
I worked at a multinational company which makes very good products and is very flexible with the customer on changes etc when others in that field arent, but some folks in the customer community didnt like said company so managed to get the products removed from vehicles, and in doing so it puts concerns from other vehicle lines and eventually all products went at that customer :( All on reputation and nothing to do with the product

If you report an auction does Ebay just that the smackdown and pull the auction or do they take a look at the IP address' of the bidders and other pieces of evidence?
im dont log on for 3 days and i miss all this?????
in naplams defence (remember he owed me money for a long time never got it) i looked at it one day and it was at 3100 and then about a hour later it was at 3000 i must admit it does seem abit excessive tho 3000 for like has been said a nova shell and a engine not evan in situe

just want to point something out that after reading through it all hasnt been raised
napalm have you ever bid on something and your sure that the owner is bidding it up?
do you know how frustraiting that is?
had it ocured to you that if there was someone genuinly bidding on it and he/she felt that you as the owner of the item (not saying it was) was bidding it up. do you not think that they may have got mad with it and reported it?
if i was bidding on it and i thought the owner was bidding it up there self to make me pay more than i would have done i would report it wouldnt most people?
Another point to take into consideration how many people nation wide will have come across you on allsorts of forums maybe even been stung by you and decided that they would report it?
as said before you need to treat a rep as your shadow you may not always see it but it will follow you round for life my friend
i feel i have a fairly good rep in the vauxhall world and feel im fairly gened up and as some will tell you such as bailey ect my work is second to none and im in a brilliant position to start up on my own but i havent and i havent for to reasons
1. if your life is in the hands of your buisness it takes 1 mistake to ruin your life
2. the vauxhall tunning industry is drying up!
want my advice lay low for a few months reapear on all the sites as a new member sort your self out start fresh with a new atatuide and dont screw anybody over because while you have a rep such as yours that follows you round you are going to get nowhere in a cut throat world that we live in

but owell
may just sell the engine and buy a c20let for ease side of things
cba with any of this ****e no more as its just making me feel down and depressed
so im really not bothered no more
If you cant afford it, that seems sensible, if you're serious about starting this business (and tbh I wouldn't leave anything with you myself atm) I'd rebuild it, to a high quality, as a C20LET to showcase the fact you can actually do the work, sticker it up with your company name and take it shows with some business cards etc. Once you have a few relatively simple conversions in use the money to finish a vxr as that will undoubtably get you work in. Noticably turning yourself round is respectable enough to attract attention alone imo, moreso than reinventing yourself as a newcomer, couple of your mates from the classy girls thread at shows might help though lol
Personally I don't see it flying, but prove me wrong :)

Well, i totaly agree with MK999, if you can do a nice conversion and sticker it up with ur company name etc and take it to shows and people appreciate the work that has gone into it, theres nothing to say they wont come to you in the future. I dont exactly know how to do engine conversions and if i had the money to let someone else do one to the high standards i expect id like to see the previous work of the person who is doing it.
Like i say tho, i didnt report it, did seem fishy to me hence why i said about it on here. but i do wish you luck if you manage to get the business + reputation going good

well iv got some one localish (bedfordshire area) wanting to come look at it just waiting for a call to arrange it so it may still sell yet
but il be buying something else to do
most likely a cheapish decent nova and xe just to make a portfolio up from and then sticker it up and sell it
then do the same again and again which in my eyes will either work or it wont so il see what happens
and support from club members would be appreciated instead of bitchyness :thumb:
i dont realy know you well enough to have a feedback on you,
but yeah it always helps having the club to help but that relies on your reputation dont it?
like a few people have said its all about Rep
But your plans seem a good idea, if you XE some nova's and then sell them on at a nice profit for yourself and make sure there dont to the standards people expect, when someone's on a forum is on about getting someone to do an engine conversion the word of mouth will go around that you did a good job on someone's XE and they hopefuly the person who wants it done should get in contact with you. imo anyway.
nath, bit of advice. cheap simple clean conversions are the best way to get noticed. xe's into corsa's, 1.6 8v into 1.2 corsas and novas, 2.0 8v into anything. the more you do the easier it gets. and collect stockpiles of bits. oh and upullit have some decent cheap engines available. :thumb:

Yep, your equity has dropped, but you've not lost money.
Buying, "half" completing a engine conversion then having it up for sale, isn't what i'd call an investment like a house would be. lol

He doesnt touch sh!t now, anything older than a z20let he doesnt do, he has a lad in there doing the xe and c20let conversions, as he is sick of the problems, and chavs smashing them off the limiters, and demanding a re-fund!
To be honest nathan, paying £3k a year for insurace to do the work, then paying rent and rates and elecy and gas on a unit, because you obviously cant work from home doing this, is it feasable? A good unit is £10k easy a year
Say you charge £300 to put a xe into a corsa, its about 6/10 hours work depending upon the type of corsa, so thats one a day, youll have to do 20 of them to cover your bills, then the £10k needs paying?
I have thought long and hard, spun a calculator round the figures 100's of times
The bottom line is, go for it, but dont borrow money to do it, because if it all goes wrong, then youll have nothing, and owe money!
Good luck:thumb:
