vaughanmc
12-04-10, 11:34 AM
Just needs that front number plate raised so it's covering the yellow stripe and it'd look awsome :)

Southie
12-04-10, 11:38 AM
Depends on condition, mine was £30 for the lower valance about 3 years ago but I've seen full fronts going for about £150

Personally I think they look tacky now as too many people decided to buy them and tried to make there MK1 "retro".

It's been like that since 1987 so until I get some new plates it can stay like that lol

Curtoise

vaughanmc
12-04-10, 12:19 PM
No idea - I'll sort that out when I come to log my 1.0 as a 1.4 ;)

Curtoise
12-04-10, 12:20 PM

vaughanmc
12-04-10, 12:32 PM

See the articles section, I did a guide on how to log an engine change.

If you're staying under 1.5, its easier as you don't need to re-apply for tax. Just fill out the new info on the V5C (engine code and cylinder capacity), get some form of evidence of the change (DVLA may not request this, but just in case they do... also, insurance might ask for it too), then post to the DVLA. I think the address is on the V5C.

I'll go get a pic of my 'plough. Its straddling the rafters of my garage, brand new direct from Opel and never used :d

Curtoise
12-04-10, 01:19 PM
ur gonna make me want a plow, cheerz for the info jack i will have a read through it, how do you get evidence of the change?
also what was that stuff about it needing to be carried out by a garage ?

edit: +rep jack and vaughan

mowgli
12-04-10, 01:56 PM
the dvla want to know that it was done safely, so photographic evidence & an engineers report will suffice.

if you want a 1.3 sr, just go & buy one

Jack
12-04-10, 02:38 PM
They won't give a toss about seeing it, just that its been done to a decent standard. I don't have the letter they sent me to hand, but iirc it was a) receipt of the engine swap from the mechanic/garage that carried out the work, b) confirmation of the engine number and capacity from a mechanic/garage, c) independent vehicle inspection report (from RAC, AA etc), or d) written evidence from the manufacturer

Curtoise
12-04-10, 02:45 PM
i see, mowgli because sr's these days are silly money!

lol the where great, untill the came as common as gsi front

No where near as common as GSi bumpers - Every Tom, Dick & Harry wants a GSi or GSi styled Nova

Snowplough's IMO are still quite scarce - Most people don't even know what a Snowplough is lol They all want GSi because it's 'the best'

Snowplough FTW

agreed, one reason i never got a front gsi bumper for my mk2, red mk2 black bumpers gsi skirts, on speedlines ! too common

vaughanmc
12-04-10, 06:13 PM
I personally don't like a GSi bumper unless it's on a proper GSi but that's just my opinion...Hence why I kept my base model Mk2 Bumper...Don't see as many lol

need to get my snowplough back on, want it done for if I make it to total vauxhall at crail. might need a new one though as almost all my clips have snapped off, will need to take a look at it it. not seen a good one for sale for a while though.

and to compare a plough to a gsi bumper in terms of popularity, hahaha, plough is way less popular and so much cooler(its mk1 after all).

Eck

TBH I hardly have any pics of the car.

Original colour was 67L BTW.

Nova_Tek
13-04-10, 11:28 PM
67L? That some type of gold?

If he hadn't painted it blue I'd have kept the colour.

Nova_Tek

Mine says 87L on the plate next to the VIN plate but on the VIN plate itself it has E421. That colour does look very similar but the only way to tell would be the code on the VIN plate.

Eck
13-04-10, 11:40 PM
VIN says E 467

Nova_Tek
13-04-10, 11:47 PM
E467 is BarytBraun meaning 'something'Brown. Mine is 427 which is WeissGold (WhiteGold). They're close but not the same.
