I was wandering through Whitby yesterday visiting the parents and noticed there were a few Vauxhall Agila's bimbling around.

Being the baby of the Vauxhall range, and therefore lighter than the rest of the fleet I am surprised that no one has taken one on as a project.

Here's a cheap one I found on ebay just now .....

I'm sure a C20XE or LET would fit in OK (or even a Z20LET on an aftermarket ECU) would fit under the bonnet, stick some coilovers on and lower it a few foot with some nice alloys and you'd have something very different.

This is the best optional extras I could find ....

I'll take a Mervia VXR in a few years, on air with 9"wide rims with some stretched tyres.

Looking at some of the pics of engine bays in Ebay it seems that the have fitted the normal 1.0 three cylinder engine and the 1.2 16v chaindrive engines normally residing in corsa c's

If you can Z20LET a corsa c ......

Have you ever driven one? No coil overs or any suspension set up would help it! It hasnt been done as it would result in the owner being locked away with a straight jacket on!

Apparently the engine bay is the tiniest thing youve ever looked at and you will struggle to get a small block XE in there apparently!

There isn't much room with a 1.2 ecowreck admiteddly, but I've always thought about dropping one on is backside on deep dish small alloys (12" or 10" if they would fit lol)

The Meriva VXR has the early version of the lump fitted to the Corsa VXR so they will go in. Wouldn't have thought a big block would go though.

The agila is totally different to the meriva, seen as the meriva is based on a corsa and the agila based on a cupboard on a skate board. You'd be lucky to fit 2 hamster wheels in the bay of one of them bad boys.

plus it would roll given half a chance of decent cornering :(

I've seen new Fiat Pandas roll doing fairly simple manouvers at 'speed'

Why would you want to put a 20year old engine into a new car??? (XE)

That green interior is rank! Love it! lol, a friend of mine had one with a duff engine, he offerred up an xe and he reckoned it would fit with a little fettling. Would have to run custom shafts tho as the standard box is a suzuki item. The brakes are also shoite, as is the suspension!
