i assume u mean universal joint?

i wouldnt think that would cause grinding just make it stiff

its either worn synchros or possible the clutch aint releasing properly

Gear box aint much 5 speed for around ?30 but make sure your clutch is not knackered first! If you got an old clutch it might be the problem!

Take clutch out if it looks burnt or is very loose and rattles then its fcuked. Get some who knows a bit about clutchs if your not sure, to check it ova.

When filling your gearbox with oil, can you over fill it?? Or do you just fill it to the top???

u open the level plug

and fill till it starts coming out the level plug

then close the level plug again

Best bet is to open the level plug and let it drain out until it stops, then you know it's down to the level of the inspection plug (where it should be)
You'll need an old container underneath as it'll pour out as soon as you take the plug out!!

just a bit

i dont think overfilling does any damage as such, just hinders gear selection

should be on the passenger side of the gearbox about halfway up (Best to check in a Haynes manual - would you take advice from someone who highlights his hair blue sometimes....)
:P
