Cam carriers and camshafts

I am currently gathering parts for a smallblock engine build and was hoping to use an injection cam carrier instead of blanking off the fuel pump hole.

Will i be able to fit an aftermarket or carb type camshaft to the carrier or are injection ones different? Will the bearings need changing?
