calling anybody good with tvs !!!

my mate has recently brought a bush btvd31187s2 ..

after a couple of beers today we thought we would have a crack at setting the machine up !

all cables are in the correct places, all the instructions have been followed ..

and we still cant get the b*stad thing onto sky !!!

for some weird ugly reason, the tv is telling me that i do not have any channels .. not even regular bbc1, bbc2, itv1, channel 4 and channel 5 .

whereas if i plug up the sh*tty grey fat tv i get every channel i want with no hassle and no strings attatched ???!!!

please can somebody put an end to this nightmare !!? :tard:

Depends if his area has switched off the analogue signal yet. It's not happening here until 2012. IIRC we're the last.

As for the Sky, connect SCART to TV and digi box. Connect Sky LMB lead (shouldn't have been uplugged though) Give both power and ensure you have your TV switched to AV mode.

Chances are it will have 2+ AV channels so ensure you go through them all. The SCART socket will have a number on it anyway...

I just stuck up an old TV/DVD combi thing in the garage before. Prepare for the World cup n all that. lol

Now I need a watch battery for the remote for my old council Sky (Freeview) SCART receiver and I'm laughing. lol

there is one box in the house .. downstairs connected to big daddy tv ..

using big black cables one tv is connected upstairs

the sky is linked so if i change the channel upstairs the tv changes downstairs aswell ..

the big black cable i was on about is the tv antenna fingk !

the tv is a flat screen thing with like freeview n sh*it built in !

If the TV is telling you it has no channels, you are in DTV mode and not AV mode.

Edit: OK so your sharing the sky output via an RF cable upstairs, so check the sky box is on by walking / staggering / crawling (delete as appropriate) upstairs and looking a the slave telly.

Then come back down and cycle through the AV inputs (should be on 1 or 2 if you're connected by SCART (big fat black cable with a big long connector between your sky box and daddy telly)

Are you trying to get freeview or Sky?

its the scart RGB not tracking the signal properly! you need to calibrate your cable for using a signal generator!

DOnt worry, your old telly wouldnt have been recieving an RGB signal, and your new one will be set as composite as standard.

Have you found the AV button on the remote?

You actually made a good point though, ive gone out to many a house where the telly wanted an RGB signal and the sky box was outputting composite through a composite only scart lead lol

On the back of the telly, what scart socket have you plugged the sky box into?
