Im not interested in getting into a slagging match here, but I saw a set sold for £80 in the FS forum!

Why?

The look bloody awful, and they were designed to be replaced if your unlucky enough for a stone to smash your headlight. So surely now, the headlights being ten a penny, they are officially worthless?

Anyone else agree?

Yes. lol

This has been a thing for ages now. I wonder if people will get protectors for the protectors?

If I had a time machine, I'd go back to 1990 and buy 100 sets from Vauxhall :d

I sort of agree Paul, but its just another extra isn't it?

I have five carpets in the loft doesn't mean I'm not going to put some mats in my car working on the same theory, they are there to protect aren't they?

Not really, cause the mats you can put muddy feet on, wait for it to dry out then just bang them out. You cant really just take a carpet out and bang it out lol

Ive got a set, purely because its an extra

Ive got some Vauxhall mats in ym corsa, with a mat ontop of the drivers one, because i dotn want it to get muddy lol

Also there to protect against wear and holes from your heels, also easy to remove when selling the vehicle to give the impression its been looked after

I never really notice headlight protectors when they are fitted unless they are pointed out to me. You would really be kicking yourself if you smashed a headlight protector that cost £80 rather than a headlight which cost £5

I think the mats argument is a bit different to the headlight one? As mats aren't £80 a set, and carpets are a lot more effort to replace than a headlight lol

I like them as a extra, if you have a showcar and it looks how it did back in the day the protectors would of been something you would of bought at the time exactly the same as a styling part imo

Headlight protectors look good but I agree aren't worth anywhere near £80! Despite the name, they don't really have a function (anymore anyway, like he said headlights cost bugger all) so I wouldn't pay that but if I were to come across a cheap set I'd probably snap 'em up.

i think there pretty pointless aswell and i wouldent pay £80 for them either lol yea they are a extra but still pointless!!

The 4 or 5 sets I have/have had were all about £15-20 a set new, if they were £80 I would not bother.

When the price of a certain VX220 part seemed to be devauled a few F/S threads went up with an asking price way in excess of the desired value... then a "sold" post put in soon after on them... The prices were back to real levels again ;)

So you can drive the market however you like

i dont see the point on having them as they trap dirt over time but lucky for me my headlights are plastic lol

TBH you can stick any parts you have up for sale at any price you like and if someone is really wanting your stuff they will buy it! It's not the sellers asking silly prices it's the buyers paying silly prices IMO.

Ive got four sets at home maybe five. Ive never paid less then £70 from new to used ones and dont think its over the odds if thats what someone wants. Its another thing that makes yours abit different from the rest. There are five or so nova's around Plymouth and mine is the only one to have them on although they have recently been nicked :( So they are obviously a wanted part lol lol lol
